Attention all gransnetters, we're giving away a fabulous set of DVDs worth £199.42 courtesy of the lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox. The bundle includes a huge variety of films and television series such as Modern Family, Bones, The Fault in our Stars, The Book of Life and many more - perfect entertainment for all the family during a miserable month of April showers.

To be in with a chance of winning we want you to tell us which movie you would screen (and why) if you had your very own cinema for just one night. The more funny and outrageous the better. May the Force be with you all smile

*Congratulations trisher, you are the lucky winner. We LOVED the hilarious account of what you would have everyone do whilst screening South Pacific!*

Amelie, the ultimate feel good movie with great views of Paris.

lornajk Fri 20-Mar-15 20:14:44

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, because it's thought provoking, funny, rude, poignant, sad, silly and we love it :-)

Bellroyd Fri 20-Mar-15 20:06:34

Liar LIar - one of Jim Carrey's best acting performances - good clean wholesome laughs for all members of the family of any age

alabaster Fri 20-Mar-15 19:46:19

Field of Dreams - an inspirational supernatural film that has life affirming themes running through it. Never tire of it!

janeyf Fri 20-Mar-15 19:22:39

I would screen Pretty Woman to celebrate its 25 year anniversary. I haven't seen it for a few years so am sure it will be as enjoyable now as it was the first time

angiem32 Fri 20-Mar-15 18:24:01

The Great Gatsby as it's a wonderful portrayal of Gatsby's life and a moving and heart-wrenching story that I think everyone can appreciate! It's also one of the best book to film adaptations I have seen!

Ikea1234 Fri 20-Mar-15 17:54:00

It would have to be a selfish choice of A Room With A View...beautiful cinematography, charming story, witty and amusing.....and a young Julian Sands in the buff!

patton Fri 20-Mar-15 17:51:58

Famous Five by Enid Blyton. The whole family, 3 generations, would enjoy every minute.

andywedge Fri 20-Mar-15 16:24:20

BladeRunner because I never had the chance to see it on the big screen

Maggiemaybe Fri 20-Mar-15 15:59:33

It would have to be The Neverending Stoooooory, the theme tune of which still jangles in my poor brain nearly 30 years after being forced to listen to it again, and again, and again, and again - my daughters and their friends just couldn't get enough of it.

I would invite them all round, set it up on a loop, dim the lights and tiptoe out to the pub for the evening, locking the door behind me. Revenge is sweet! grin

MrsJ2000 Fri 20-Mar-15 15:28:00

it has to be a Christmas movie called Miracle on 34th Street
not the old black and white movie but the remake with Sir Richard Attenborough
It's a real feed good movie that all the family can enjoy and it makes me smile every time I watch it

Darienne Fri 20-Mar-15 15:23:45

I would show ALL 3 of the Back to The Future movies with no gaps in between

jt75 Fri 20-Mar-15 15:16:26

The Sound of Music. It looks great on a big screen and we could all dress up and singalong.

nanahil Fri 20-Mar-15 14:52:06

It's so hard to decide on just one film. A lot of the films already mentioned would make it onto my (not very short) shortlist.
Ultimately, I'd probably chose The Graduate because it was my first real 'grown-up' film. I remember going to see it and feeling I'd been to see a film as an adult, not a child, for the first time. I loved (and still do) the Simon and Garfunkle soundtrack.

simone1 Fri 20-Mar-15 14:16:42

pretty woman because its everyones dream to get swept off there feet by a prince

A Man for all Seasons, I saw this over 40 years ago. I had a dreadful cold, and had to blow my nose constantly. It was the first date I had with the man who is my husband ( the red shinny nose did not put him off). It brings back lovely memories of our courting years.

sunseeker Fri 20-Mar-15 13:01:36

Has to be Usual Suspects - great story, great acting and a twist at the end.

harryt22 Fri 20-Mar-15 11:50:10

We would watch the film cool runnings. The cinema seat would be a giant bobsled in which we would all watch the film from! Book now for your seat on the bobsled!!

adrisco Fri 20-Mar-15 10:44:11

Bambi - I shed tears as a child and I'm shedding them again now when I watch the film with my granddaughters.

purplehairstreak Fri 20-Mar-15 10:00:43

I'd screen Casblanca. Classic, black and white, compelling story, great photography and of course, "Play it Sam, play it again" so all those I invited would be able to join in and sing.

I'd suggest in my invitations that people might like to dress up in war time-themed outfits, and of course, I'd have some cocktails to serve from my own version of "Rick's Bar" before and after the screening.

As my guests arrived they would have to say the correct password ("gin joints") to be admitted. Then we would all settle down to enjoy this enduring and timeless classic. Tissues would be provided.

greenfinger5 Fri 20-Mar-15 09:54:14

That's a tough one! think it would be 'Independence day' we all liked that film. so many to choose from. ;)

sarah2000h Fri 20-Mar-15 09:48:37

I'd screen Paddington. It's great for all the family, it's funny and ends with that Feel Good factor. Perfect!

dani4 Fri 20-Mar-15 09:40:20

I would screen Mrs Doubtfire, the best funny/sad film ever by the wonderful late Robin Williams, fantastic!

mazgoli Fri 20-Mar-15 09:20:48

Pollyanna. My boys always were annoyed when their sisters wanted to watch it as children. Such a wonderful feel-good movie, don't see their problem! So to have them all watch it together again now they're grown ups and perhaps play the 'Glad Game' afterwards. That would really be something.

sallyc06 Fri 20-Mar-15 08:56:35

Down Periscope starring Lauren Holly. My huisband goes into hysterics everytime the 'farting' scene comes on!!
