Who could actually use this prize?

I just had a quick glance at the competitions and found one with a prize of "Win a family break with Haven".

Oh I thought, this could be just the ticket. Except for when reading the small print I find, the "prize" is;
A 3 night weekend or 4 night midweek break for up to 6 people to be taken before the 30th June 2015 and cannot include school holidays, bank holiday weekends!

Now I might be a bit slow here, but just wondering how anyone could actually use this Family break ?? confused

None of us could use this sad

Not all children are at school! Not all families include children of school age.

Also I've tried to enter the competition about winning a break in a Cornish hotel. Can't do it! It's asking for the top box to be filled in about top tips for cutting sugar. There is the usual tick list underneath. I've ticked that filled in my details and it just keeps throwing me back to the first box hmm

Oh come on Jane10 most families of 6 will include children of school age.

We would never take our grandchildren out of school but plenty do at their junior school. One girl in my DGD's class has just come back from a week in Cuba. I don't know whether this is breaking the law but no-one seems to care.

Okay well maybe mummy, daddy, grandma, grandpa and the newborn twins perhaps? grin

Maybe where you live gillybob! We see lots of families on holiday consisting of Grandparents, parents and babies/toddlers. We certainly holidayed outwith school holidays before our children were of school age (Aged 5 where we live)

Anya I've written on another thread about not having a Submit button to enter a competition but it righted itself the next day. Perhaps your problem will do the same.

Me and DH constitute a family. Blow the rest of 'em.

Where's that comp?!

gillybob Thu 19-Mar-15 10:32:20

Okay Jane10 you win. grin

The point I was trying to make (I didn't think I would need to spell it out) is that there are so many restrictions to the "prize" that there are not many people (except for where Jane10 lives) who could actually make full use of the FAMILY holiday for 6 people.

Anya Thu 19-Mar-15 10:36:12

Does that mean Jane10 gets to go away with pre-schoolers on holiday!

Yippee! Well done.

Greenfinch Thu 19-Mar-15 10:42:05

I agree entirely gillybob. It is an exclusive prize.sad

Anya, on the Cornish break form, I typed in wording to match my selection below. It worked!

POGS Thu 19-Mar-15 12:00:15

It's a good prize to win because it is only saying you can take 'up to' 6 people.

It doesn't say you have to take 6 people!

You don't have to take a family.

It could be two mums with pre school children, two adults only, any combination of.

I would like to win it so I'm glad others are obviously not bothering, could do with a break and Haven sites are very good in my experience.

gillybob Thu 19-Mar-15 12:21:41

It is described as a Family Break though POGS confused

I would love to win it too. But sadly no point as my (fairly typical) "family" couldn't go.

Yes Haven tend to be good "family" sites.

Sorry for being picky here but surely the prize of a "family holiday" should at least be available to families.

It has to be taken before 30 June. Not much time to make arrangements and to fit it in. ?

Katek Mon 22-Jun-15 09:21:54

My friend has four boys and home schools so they could use the break!!

hildajenniJ Mon 22-Jun-15 10:07:57

We could just about manage the last weekend! The Scottish schools break up on the 26th June. In England you'd have no chance. These are very silly offers. No family would want to take their children out of school as these days they are fined for doing so.

Where are the competition details for the Haven and Cornish hotel breaks? I can only find a bike, Hyde Park, cookery books and Lego. I have entered to win the bike, and don't want any of the others, but I could use a break!

Hi hilda, I think the competitions for the breaks ended some time ago unfortunately!
