Taking all the garden rubbish which won't fit into the compost bin to the tip and queuing for hours because they have "reorganised" it. So I sit there and wonder exactly what creepy crawlies are crawling out of the bags and into my car. sad

Sweeping up hedge clippings .

I don't really HATE any particular job if I am in the mood for it. Pruning when I am cross for instance is very satisfying!
But I suppose it is clearing up after an energetic session of weeding and cutting back.

gillybob, you got there with your comp entry in the end!grin

grin I wondered why everyone was describing the jobs they hate most????????? I shall crawl under one of the pots with the woodlice where I belong.

Okay so the job I hate is digging big holes in hard ground. I am almost as useless at it as I am at competitions.

Digging is back-breaking in our garden as we live on a hill with thick clay soil (baked hard at the moment). Also, as our garden slopes downwards, I often lose my balance and fall into the flower beds.

I have a love/hate relationship with weeding - hate the thought of it but find it quite therapeutic once I get started. Watering the greenhouse and pots though..... I don't know what it is but I hate and detest that job!

Pruning and disposing of anything with thorns. I've never managed to find a truly thorn-proof pair of gloves.

I love gardening but hate cutting the grass, as it is on a steep slope requiring crampons! On the other hand, the GCs (and I) used to love sliding down it on a 10 metre length of parachute silk. Sadly they are now teenagers and too cool to have fun!

My top gardening tip not that I am even remotely qualified to give gardening tips is;

To take a photograph (or several) when your garden is in full bloom. That way you can remember what grew where and what it looked like against the rest of the garden. This will enable you to have a bit of a shift about in the Spring if you need to.

My top tip for grandchildren is to always have an old planter or box that you can move to one side in order to have a reliable supply of woodlice and other beetles to study (well maybe that's just my 3) smile
