In our latest competition with Orion, we're giving you the chance to win a £100 Waitrose voucher and a copy of Greatest Hits by number one bestselling author Laura Barnett, a story about the power of reflection and how much our memories mean to us.

If you could choose just 16 moments to define your entire life, what would they be? That’s what Cass Wheeler must do. A musician born in 1950, Cass is now taking one day to select the 16 songs in her repertoire that have meant the most to her.

And behind each song lies a story - from the day her mother abandoned her, to her passionate first love, to the moment she lost everything. The dreams, the failures, the second chances.

So, what are the songs that mean the most to you, and evoke your most precious memories? Perhaps it was the first dance at your wedding, or the song repeated on the radio throughout your first holiday, or the only music that would rock your baby to sleep. Tell us in the comments below for the chance to win an £100 Waitrose voucher and a copy of Greatest Hits! We also have 25 copies of the book for runners-up.

Greatest Hits is published by W&N, an imprint of Orion, and is available online and from all good booksellers.

Please post your entries below by 11am 16 April.

Usual T&Cs apply.

I love Since You’ve Been Gone by Rainbow because when my son died in 2007 from an asthma attack, this helped me learn to fly again.

The song that evokes memories for me is Midnight Train To Georgia by Gladys Knight. Whenever it came on the radio my mum and I would sing along. It was played at her funeral and the start of it brings a tear to my eye before I remember the happy times too and it makes me smile.

Wake me up before you Go-Go. I used to dance around the room with my new born son and he loved it, roring with laughter. He was only a few weeks old and I can still visualise and 'hear' the smiles and the laughs from him. It was such a happy, carefree time.

My happy memory is dancing to Tiger Feet by Mud with my sister in our living room, decked out in 70s flares.

Terry Jacks 'Seasons In The Sun' takes me back to being around seven years old, living in Germany so very excited by English songs on the radio, particularly those which told a story as this one does. The more morose the better!

This is sad but the song that means the most to me is.. Jealous of the Angels by Jenn Bostick. We had it at my brothers funeral, he passed away suddenly at the age of 58 and the song summed up our feelings perfectly.

When my husband and I got together, we were quite into the group Space and 2 of the tracks are Me and You Versus The World and Dark Clouds. When I hear them it transports me back to that time, both of us singing along to them in the car with the sun beating down and the windows open. Happy Days.
