Some of my favourite memories are of being out in the greenhouse with my grandfather. He was a keen gardener and grew tomatoes. He was very patient with me and taught me all about growing them. It started a love of gardening which has stayed with me all my life

As a small child, my dad lying next to me in bed telling me a bedtime story. I would curl a strand of his hair round and around my finger as I listened. Eventually he would be fast asleep with a tuft of hair sticking up!

Watching old films on a Sunday afternoon with my mum, I think my dad was probably working. I still love those old films today and remember my mum explaining them to me as a young girl.

Visiting the shops after dark on Christmas Eve when I was very small. The local paper shop had a box of fairy dolls for the top of the tree with foils wings and net dresses in multiple colours. Lots of brightly coloured decorations and an air of excitement

I loved spending time with my maternal grand-parents who were both deaf and used sign language. I didn’t realise that this was unusual and thought everyone understood it. It wasn’t until I was older that I realised what a beautiful language they’d given me.

My favourite memories are going to visit my Dad at work with my Mum when I was primary school age he was a groundsman. I can still remember the smell of sitting in his shed eating my lunch and him showing me around all his greenhouses and the massive grounds that he worked in. I used to love it.

My favourite childhood memory is stating to my parents how horrible I thought the new dining room suite was .... that it made the dining room look like a “morgue”. I’ve recently taken over the table and chairs of the said suite and LOVE IT! It’s now 60 years old and has really stood the test of time.

During the summer paddling in the shallow river that ran at the back of the house, we always ended up wetter than we should be but never seemed to feel the cold.

When I was 8 years old my Mum would let me go on my own to the "Dahlia man" to collect a bunch of dahlias. While I was there the man would tell me to go collect some eggs for him from his henhouse while he cut the flowers. I loved it. Then I would go home with a box of free eggs and my arms full of flowers.

!956 My grandad wheeling me in his wheelbarrow . I was sitting on top of the compost! My mum said he could never go past the window without me spotting him. He lived in a bungalow in the middle of a bluebell wood. I adore gardening. He would have been proud of me! I don't sit on the compost much these days!

Adopted by my mothers sister and never told, I grew up confused emotionally having to work out that my aunt was my mother and my mother my aunt and my brother my cousin. My favourite times were with my grandmother who was really my grandmother and she hinted the truth to me all my childhood with her storytelling and cuddles.

My favourite childhood memories was visiting my nan and grandad . They lived in kilndown Kent , they had a country house . It had its own smell , and comfy ness. I loved the home made jams and cakes . Made on old fashioned scales . I loved the old arga oven . My grandad was Gardner and the smell of picking peas ( sweet peas ) sends me straight back to those times . They had a wood fire in the living room , and the sounds of the wood poping as it burnt . Xx I miss those days xx
