Matilda - she is such a bright, happy and sweet girl who has awful uncaring parents. Her life turns around like she deserves once she meets lovely Miss Honey. I love all the tricks she plays on Mrs Trunchball too - makes me laugh every time I read the book or watch the film!

Matilda, she's feisty, funny, determined and loves to read. She has always reminded me of my daughter when she was a little girl, even down to the hairstyle.

Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, he comes from a very humble background and shows how polite and thoughtful he can be. Politeness cost nothing.

Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. What a fabulous story of a boy who was timid, not pushy and totally honest and who won the prize.

I love the BFG; a huge gentle giant who gets rather muddled and is funny (and a bit rude!) and particularly love the way he makes up words.

Has to be BFG ... don't judge a book by it's cover!! Although quite scary looking, is a lovable, caring character.

My favourite character is Charlie from the Chocolate factory because he's so lovely and it's one of my favourite stories.

I love Matilda. I think it's great having a strong female main character who encourages children to enjoy reading.
