Playing hide and seek in the park close-by which was mostly overgrown and pretty wild. Also, hiding something and then having fun seeing how quickly someone would find it by the Hot ,Warm, Cold System.

Oh what else but roller skating with my friends.

The skates had to be Jacko Skates. One size fitted all.

The skates came in two parts with a nut in the middle... to make them larger, you unscrewed the nut with the little key they gave you, and adjusted the two parts to fit.

I seem to think they were 10/6d ... so we had one pair between the lot of us !

I love rolling skating... and at 68 still do it whenever I can !

We had lots of trees at the back of our house which were ideal for climbing, building dens, pretending the lower branches were horses and occasionally persuading our dad to put up a swing.

Playing with the toy craze Klackers I think they were called. Most girls had them at school they were balls on long pieces of string that you clacked together and some people could do great tricks with them. Hours of fun in the playground, till they got banned smile

Making rose “perfume” by mashing rose petals in water and then putting it into bottles. It turned to sludge within a couple of days! Lol

Oooh my favourite outside activity as a young child was looking for fairies... I was so naive and read lots of Enid Blyton and longed to find a fairy door in a tree lol

Taking my (toy) dog called Mick for walks. I used to tie him to the drainpipe whenever I needed to go indoors for a drink or a bathroom stop. He was absolutely real to me so I couldn’t risk him running off while I was in the house.

long jump, I was quite good at it. And we used to go tracking in the Guides down to Beeleigh Abbey, over fields without an ADULT! Heaven forbid, there were no health and safety rules then! But such fun. How H&S has killed off fun.
