Playing outside was ALL the rage,
Back in them there olden days,
The neighbourhood kids would idle their time,
Jumping and skipping and singing in rhyme,
All that exercise and all that air,
Not a care in the world but a world of care,
As much as I love the world wide web,
I wish my kids were outside more instead,
I love the mud and climbing trees,
The chasing boys and scabby knees,
The knocking on doors of all my friends,
The heated arguments and making amends,
Everything out in the open air,
The best of the weather and the laissez faire,
The running outside once breakfast was through,
And sneaking back in with the streetlights and dew!
