Riding my bike for miles through the countryside - no worries then about a child being out all day on their own.

I used to like playing Hopscotch because kids would always join in or I could play on my own. My mum would send me out playing in the morning and I would be out all day, if I came back she would send me out again, I think I got on her nerves. What different times this is now, people would be appalled to think children were sent out all day.

I grew up in Germany and Cyprus so my favourite outdoor activities were skating on the lake in winter or going to the beach and snorkeling. Also fossil hunting with my friends!

I used to make grasshopper traps in my nan's gardens out of a shoe box and a twig, I'd spend hours lying in the grass and waiting. Mum used to pack me jam sandwiches and I'd spend most of the day up there doing that or making rainbows with the hosepipe!

Digging in the garden. Making tunnels and mud castles. I never got bored.

I use to love standing on my dads feet and he would hold me and dance around the kitchen to the tunes of Brenda Lee ( his favourite artist!) ... How I use to laugh as he twirled me around and around! smile

My Favourite outdoor activity was visiting national trust properties with my family! I remember rolling down the grass banks with my siblings at a huge estate and feeling like a princess!

cheekychicken24 Wed 10-Apr-19 19:05:16

Hours of fun playing sevens against a wall - the only equipment needed was the wall & a tennis ball!

In hindsight, the endless noise inside against the sitting room wall must have driven my mother slowly mad!

I loved skipping and making dens.

I used to love making a den .
Anything we could find was used, sometimes they were made with odd bits of wood, sometimes cardboard boxes . If we were lucky we got an old sheet to use as curtains or a door . Happy days ?

Helping my Dad in the garden. Together we planted tons of plants and as I tend my garden now and read the plant names on the labels, I can hear my Dad's voice saying the names. Happy memories smile
