I had a swing in the garden and I used to lie back and look behind me and up at the sky as I went back and forward. I loved it.

Jumping and playing in a river with my 3 brothers. The river was quite wide, fairly deep, and crystal clear. We had an absolute ball. Same river flooded all our land when we had a storm. Went back there recently for a trip down memory lane and it was all so overgrown you couldn't even see the river. So sad. Glad I've got my memories smile

Playing in my Nan & Grandad's garden with my sister with their deckchairs we got from their shed! We took out old torches and bits and bobs we could play with and turned the deckchairs into anything we could think of! Well, we thought it was fun at the time! We were about 5 & 6! I even miss avoiding the lavender bush that was outside their front door because of all the bees! Such uncomplicated times!

Loved nothing better than my scooter.

Family bike rides were always my favourite. We always used to do the same loop; through the school grounds, around the river, through the park (with a quick stop for a shot on the swings!) and home again. Happy memories smile

I would be gone for hours fishing for sticklebacks and newts in my local river with a bucket and a home made net. I would sometimes bring the newts home and put them in my fishtank outside so they would lay their eggs on the pondweed. Once the baby newts were grown I'd let them go back to the river.

Sorry, I meant tiddlers, not toddlers, I am not the child catcher from chitty chitty bang bang!

lollee Tue 09-Apr-19 12:46:08

We lived in Bury St Edmunds and I loved childhood trips to the Abbey Gardens. There was a small stream running through it and we would use a net to catch toddlers in a glass jar. Even back then we would return them to the water before we left!
