When I was a child, we lived in rural Mid Wales, surrounded by huge fields of long pasture grass and wild flowers. We played a game where one of us was "on", and the rest of us had to crawl through the long grass and create as many "false trails" as possible to deter being found. It was hide and seek game on your hands and knees, essentially. I can remember hiding; with the smell of the warm grasses, buttercups, ladies smock and mouse ear chickweed like it was yesterday.

I went back home recently, for the first time in many years and "our fields" are a Tesco supermarket now. Gone forever. sad

Rolling down any handy grassy slope, laughing hysterically. Then lying in the long grass at the bottom looking up at the clouds in a blue sky. (Summers were always sunny in those days, right?)
