If you're after ideas for what to read this summer, look no further than our round-up of the best summer reads for 2019.

One very lucky person can win all the books featured on the page - worth over £600.

To enter, simply tell us your favourite female character from a book (old or new and from any genre).

A winner will be drawn at random at midday on Monday 15 July. Usual terms and conditions apply. Note that because of the size and weight of the prize box, we are only able to deliver to mainland UK addresses.

One of my favourite books is The Love of Stones by Tobias Hill in which Katharine Sterne is travelling across Turkey, London and Japan in search of a diamond, pearl and ruby brooch once worn by Queen Elizabeth I. The book is really the story of the jewels, told across centuries and continents but it is beautifully written and Katharine is such an independent woman and brave. She inspires me.
