If you're after ideas for what to read this summer, look no further than our round-up of the best summer reads for 2019.

One very lucky person can win all the books featured on the page - worth over £600.

To enter, simply tell us your favourite female character from a book (old or new and from any genre).

A winner will be drawn at random at midday on Monday 15 July. Usual terms and conditions apply. Note that because of the size and weight of the prize box, we are only able to deliver to mainland UK addresses.

When I was a child I loved the book 'Heidi'. I enjoyed the fact that I was transported to a different world through Heidi. It was a treat to read about a girl who lived in both Germany and Switzerland. I loved reading about her adventures in the mountains, and longed to escape my city life to wander in through meadows of edelweiss.
