Vera as portrayed in the books by Anna Cleeves but I also go along with many of the above. Glad to see the Alphabet books mentioned - I was struggling to think of the detective’s name before deciding on Vera instead as she hasn’t got a mention so far.
- Cassandra Mortmain - I capture the Castle - Dodie Smith . Yes she wrote 101 Dalmatians - but this is a gem of a book that everyone should read at least once. It is the book I give to people as a present most often. read it ! There was a film - but ignore that read the book !
