It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

My father who I still very much miss... He died after being flown back home after having a very bad stroke. My Mum and sister was at home, but he died alone in the early morning and because of the cost and flights etc I couldn't get back for his funeral and to see him one last time, talk to him like we used to do before his stroke. Have a lovely Christmas again with him, my grandfather as well, all around the fire enjoying hot drinks, mince pies and a good old chatter.... I so dearly miss them both

I would like to have my whole family under the tree. Also a time machine so that we could go back to Christmas Day when we were kids. When my dad and grandparents were still alive and presents were a lot simpler but valued more. We seemed to have a lot more fun back then.

My school Biology teacher really inspired me, not just with her love of her subject, but with the shear joy and wonder of learning.

I would love to find her under my Christmas tree so I could thank her and let her see that the feeble shoot she nurtured as carefully and enthusiastically as her much more promising blooms, did eventually make strong roots and blossomed as she would have wished.

I probably miss my mum most of all, and she can no longer travel, so I would most like a teleporting machine to deliver her to our house for Christmas Day

My mobility and health restored so I can enjoy life and my family rather than having to focus on keeping my job.

Two things really, my husband and our eldest daughter reconciling their differences and a backlit Kindle. Not much to ask is it?

My late mother as she encouraged my love of books, however, with four young children there wasn’t much time to discuss them with her. Now they are grown up I would love the opportunity to sit, read in companionable silence and discuss books and poetry which we both love.
