It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

I'd like to find my lovely daughter, who died in April. This will be my first Christmas without her.

Pennymann Tue 19-Nov-19 14:24:46

I have no idea who I would like to see under my tree. My mum and dad would be good, but they didn’t really get on, so I would have to have them one at a time!!! Xxx the books would be nice, somewhere to lose myself to. Xxx

Gotta be The Snowman (unmelted though) from Raymond Briggs magical story. That would be a perfect Christmas tale to tell.

I'd love to find my dad (gone 14yrs - NEVER forgotten) under my Christmas tree so my husband would get to see how much fun he was (and maybe persuade my Dad to share his Allsorts lol). I would also love to find Kim & Angie to make sure my house gets a thorough clean after Christmas hehe.

Winston Churchill. Perhaps he could shake up the government and get some major decisions made at last.

I would like to find Jamie Oliver under the tree as he could cook Christmas dinner!

MarciaB Tue 19-Nov-19 13:30:08

Just for one Christmas I would like to be able to get my three children and their families all together to celebrate! They all lead such busy lives it’s rare to get a date and time to meet that they can all make for a get together.

Like so many others on here, I'd love to come downstairs on Christmas morning and find my Mum and Dad under the tree, both long since gone from this world.

fialcross Tue 19-Nov-19 13:10:47

I'd love to find my five grandchildren as none of them live nearby. I am unable to travel to see them as I had a sudden, unexplained collapse which left me with a fractured skull, bruising and bleeding on the brain. Seeing all my grandchildren on Christmas morning would be such a wonderful, uplifting experience.

I would love to find my grandparents under the tree so I can fill in so many gaps with questions I didn’t ask before it was too late.

JonFlorrie Tue 19-Nov-19 12:08:53

I'd love to find Peter Fiennes under my tree as long as he was in talkative mood! I have read his new book "Footnotes" and his trip around Britain following in literary footsteps. A fascinating view of history and geography which I could listen to forever as I do like to hear about the UK and the lives of writers. (He'd have to stay for lunch of course).

I would love to see a new kitten under my tree as my last cat died a few months ago and I feel ready to start afresh with a lovely new kit.

Simply one person - my husband who passed away a month ago. I miss him so much and dread Christmas

gillysim Tue 19-Nov-19 11:56:01

I would like the new Pokémon games for my switch! I may be 61 but I still enjoy playing games. My grown up children bought me a Switch last year! You know what they say " use it or lose it!"

Torminator2709 Tue 19-Nov-19 11:41:38

Other than my late parents, I’d love a huge fluffy blanket (wrapped beautifully) under the tree to snuggle up on the sofa with DH.

helgawills Tue 19-Nov-19 11:36:54

I'd love to find my best friend from school, Eva Schäfer, under my tree, sadly she passed from breast cancer far too early. I miss her.

annierich Tue 19-Nov-19 11:29:06

I would love to find my late father under the tree. There are still so many things I want to ask him about his life and I would love to show him how his great granddaughter is growing up into a lovely young lady.
