Are there so few opportunities for older writers? I quite often see references to people not publishing books until in their 50s and much later.
C J Sansom, who died recently, and wrote the'Shardlake' novels, didn't publish his first book until he was in his 50s.
Anyway how can a publisher tell when a manuscript is submitted how old the author is? Publishers want novels/poetry etc that will sell, is the age of the author really relevant?
