I think everyone should have connections and can learn from different views and opinions

People of all ages are vital like threads that are needed to be woven into a strong community

Yes community is so important

Isis1981uk Thu 21-May-20 19:35:20

For me, moving round lots as a kid, finding and becoming part of a community was important. I love that my kids were born in this house and that, 13 years after moving here, we finally feel part of a community and always see people we know when we go out & about. With my family 3 hours away I like to know there are people I can call on if I need them.

So important the knowledge that the older generation has is amazing and hopefully by listening we might not make the same mistakes in our lifes

its so important for people to mix and share stories. To be listened to and listen to others. To feel part of something beyond our own families

It’s so important for all ages to feel part of something. I feel so sad for those who may not have family, or friends to check in with them whatever their age.
I work with primary school aged children and I know from my telephone conversations with parents that the current lockdown conditions are having a real impact on the children’s emotional health and well-being too.

I think through these difficult times we realise how important it is to connect with our neighbours. I think it is great for youngsters to interact with older people as they can learn so much from them. I can remember as a child sitting with an elderly neighbour and I used to love the stories she told me.

It's very important they stay connected and can provide a wealth of information they've gathered over the years.

greig23 Thu 21-May-20 15:54:23

Its very important as its what keeps society working - deffo now when a sense of being part of our community means staying home as much as possible to keep all of us safe and well . It shows you are not aLONE

Stuartmoreton Thu 21-May-20 15:28:28

It is important for people of all ages to feel connected to their community. Human beings are inherently social creatures. As far back as we can trace, humans have traveled, hunted, and thrived in social groups and for good reason. Social groups provide us with an important part of our identity, and more than that, they teach us a set of skills that help us to live our lives. Feeling socially connected, especially in an increasingly isolated world, is more important than ever. The benefits of social connectedness shouldn’t be overlooked.

It's extremely important to feel part of a community, especially during the current times. Let's hope it continues though.

Ar25 Thu 21-May-20 14:48:27

Very important. They have contributed to the community all their life and they deserve to continue to feel part of the community

antheaholloway Thu 21-May-20 14:15:09

I think that it is very important for all age groups to be connected. I am lucky because I live in a village where we mix with all ages and all types of people too. Also it is an added bonus having grandchildren who keep us up to speed on their lives and their way of thinking.

Very important. Young at heart springs to mind and that is how we feel as we get older.Treat older people as you would treat anyone else.

Sarell10 Thu 21-May-20 12:46:07

Very important. We are after all part of the community. No one should feel lonely, whatever age they may be and we can all learn from each other, swap skills, stories etc

SusannaCallaghan Thu 21-May-20 12:39:07

As important as life itself - relationships are central to health and happiness and that means a living network of friends, family, neighbours and delightful acquaintances of all ages.

TammyChernelle Thu 21-May-20 12:35:41

I think it is so important to feel connected to their community especially people of different ages, just decades ago it was the norm to know and help everyone in the community but slowly modern life has got in the way/. I think it's essential for wellbeing, to feel part of something bigger and to combat lonliness.

BellaTilley1988 Thu 21-May-20 11:54:00

So important. If they don't grow up with it, they will not realise what they are missing when they are older. Its important to help and share with others, especially our neighbours.

danik Thu 21-May-20 11:08:40

It is very important therefore my kids have created a book swap for older people. They basically send them the list of books what they can swap, the people select what they would like to receive and we deliver the books to their doorsteps. It works so well.

bdavies Thu 21-May-20 10:38:28

It is very important to feel in touch with your community. I am 68 years old but at varying times of my life I have isolated and lonely and being part of your community can combat that.

buzylizzy Thu 21-May-20 10:28:45

I think it's incredibly important to have a community spirit people like to feel connected to others it gives a sense of security and you know that you will all help each other out when needed. It makes people feel happier and more settled to know they have a good community.
