It's super important, we have a local newsletter that gets delivered telling us all of the goings on in the area which is handy

It is brilliant when young and old are all valued and regarded with respect .We can learn so much from each other and our lives are enriched through coming together to help and support one another.

It's really important for everyone in their local community to connect in some way - especially at times like these when such a lot of us are / have been isolating in our own homes. Different generations have so much to offer each other. The answer to the question asked re Damart sizes is 10 - 28.

Hope you all keep very safe and well xx

When we are connected to a group and feel responsibility for other people, that sense of purpose and meaning encourages us to take better care of ourselves and take fewer risks and also reduces stress

hughese Thu 21-May-20 08:40:29

It's so important for health and mental wellbeing.

sylviagill1807 Thu 21-May-20 08:27:33

I think it's up to the individual... some people really need social life and belonging to the community, while others are 'loners' and quite happy with it. everyone is different in their needs.

A community is like an extended family, your connection is already there, all you need to do is take advantage of it.
Some people require encouragement, some do not.

Build on that connection and you will show the benefits of connecting to the community to others.

A community is richer when everybody connects

stranraer123 Thu 21-May-20 07:39:28

It is vital to keep the community as well as the person happy. It will promote a comfortable safe atmosphere for life.

I. Present times vital weather it chatting to neighbours to working in community all important right now

It is vital for people of every age to feel connected to their community if we are going to survive as a society. there has been too much emphasis on "looking after number one" or "being famous" or "reaching the top" from politicians, celebrities, media, sportsmen etc. Without community connections we suffer from increase in mental health issues, crime, isolation and lack of kindness and self-worth.

robyn297 Wed 20-May-20 22:45:13

Extremely important, I think we all need to feel part of a bigger community, its good to help others and have support when you need it.

A community in which the young and the elderly can't communicate is an unhealthy community. In a well-functioning community, older people can remember what it was like to be young, and won't continually find fault with their entertainments and behaviour; youngsters will realise that it's not too bad to be old and that their seniors were once young like them.

I think it’s really important! Especially in times like this. It’s important for us all to feel apart of our own communities. I’ve seen such brilliant community spirit during the pandemic and the importance of community spirit has never been more important x

thestax Wed 20-May-20 21:05:34

It keeps you connected mentally and physically. People in strong community networks feel happier and more supported- so vital right now.

There is nothing new under the sun, and when we chit chat with others, there is always insight into our own situations to be gleaned and gained - there is a lot to learn from every age group, and when we interact with our community, we grow wiser together.

Very important. At the moment , with not being able to move around the country, your neighbours are the people who are able to help you, and you them.
People all around the country are doing things to help each other, and friendships are being made by being involved in the community.

carowood Wed 20-May-20 20:25:53

It doesn't matter how young or old you may be. Everyone needs someone and the sense of belonging to a community goes a long way to lifting your spirits if feeling lonely. It is also a way to find and make new friends.

Emmamaryd Wed 20-May-20 20:19:24

Patriciamichael Wed 20-May-20 15:09:42

A caring sharing community of all ages makes for a better life for everybody. We have a fantastic what's app group on our street making it so easy to give and get help and support across the ages.

Northwestwoman1979 Wed 20-May-20 15:07:21

It is very important as people should be there for each other and be proud of their community. Its easy in this day and age to be so concerned with yourself you forget what overs are going through.

gillwill Wed 20-May-20 08:51:48

I think it is very important for people of all ages to feel connected to their community because connecting with others is now proven by research to be good for our moods, and even our physical health.
