I think it is very important for people of all ages to feel connected to their community. It is better for everyone's mental health - and physical health. At the moment communities are coming together more than they have for a very long time and I do hope the extra concern and co-operation which is going on will continue in the future.

Very important. It’s great to see my community of all ages helping each other. I’ve been helping with shopping and others have helped me get the necessary PPE so I can support people recently discharged from hospital and preventing hospital admissions.

Very important to feel part of a community. Otherwise you become isolated and this has detrimental effect on mental health. Particularly important during the current pandemic

Everyone needs to be connected to their community because they will then, hopefully, have more inclination to help their community and to do their best for everyone they know. Especially important at the moment.

It's vital for our and others safety and wellbeing.

I think it's very important for every age to create and reinforce feelings of community and civic responsibility in order to nurture empathy and connection.

Very important, it could really add a few years to someone's life.

Very important - we have an older neighbour, who has family near by, but we've told him he can call us at any time. I hope someone would do the same thing for us if the need ever arose.

I think it's very important, when people feel connected to those around them they feel like they belong and feel accepted and much more happier.

It is so important, in times likes these a lot of people do realise that. staying connected to your community helps so many people around you. I just hope that sense of community will also last when this is over!!

It is very important for people to keep connected with their community. My mother in law is 79 and self isolating and she is finding it very hard not seeing family or her friends that she met on a regular basis at local community groups.

Community connection makes both the individual person and the community itself blossom

The coronavirus has shown us how important it is for people to look after other members of their community, regardless of age. That is especially true of the elderly, who may live alone and can't meet up with family at the moment.

dinkiedee Tue 19-May-20 09:04:40

It’s very important for people of all ages to feel part of the community and help each other whenever they can, more now than ever.

I think a lot of people now after we get our of lockdown will see family and loved ones in a different light and not take for granted they will be here for years to come. Too many people just focused on them self but now see how important it is to stay connected.

In this little Cornish village,we have a wonderful community spirit, everyone helping those in need at these uncertain times.Even when out for a daily walk.I meet people ,at a safe distance of course, that I don't really know and everyone asks if you are ok or do you need help in any way.It is so important to stay connected and not to feel alone and forgotten.I hope we will all remember when this is over how important it is to care.

I think it's incredibly important. It matters not just for people who might otherwise be isolated but everyone. The more connected people feel to their community, the more positive action everyone is likely to take!

It is important to keep in touch with all ages, to promote good mental health and because there is so much we can learn from each other.

it takes two parents to make the child, a community to make the man /woman

ktmd Mon 18-May-20 15:32:29

A sense of community is vital for good mental health. We can all support each other and feel connected.

wildchild Mon 18-May-20 15:06:44

It's vital - you just don't know what may happen - they'll need help or you do - and it's nice to know who's coming to your aid!

Being connected is vital...! There is so much that all ages can contribute to each other so don't write anyone off as too old or too young. My granddaughters come to me when they want to bake so we do it together and the satisfaction is double. On the other hand when I have a problem with my computer they face time me and talk me through till its sorted and our respect and love for each other goes through the roof...!

gil3 Mon 18-May-20 11:57:35

A community can share ideas, values and love which will make them stronger and include everybody as each member has something to give and receive.

For me it is a bit important as then you have a sense of belonging the communities are not as big however we are now part of different ones. The work community, the school community and where you live the community there is important feeling we belong and connecting to people is vital to our well being
