When DH retired he took over (most) of the ironing. So pleased although most of it is his stuff anyway! Anything of mine that is a bit delicate I have to hide away so I can do it myself when he’s out of the way.
I do get a bit marked though when he rearranged thing in the kitchen eg puts the spoon rest and timer in the cupboard. I know it’s petty of me....

I am happy when we can enjoy something together!

Shoom72 Wed 29-Apr-20 09:31:50

I like my husband getting involved as it is good to share everything and this results in a happy and lasting marriage!!!!

Juno56 Wed 29-Apr-20 09:24:29

DH and I have different interests but do share some things: theatre, nice meals out, holidays etc (not possible at present). I wouldn't mind at all if he expressed an interest in, for example, reading a book I had enjoyed or wanted to listen to an online concert with me.

I am afraid we have never worked together well so we have quite strict divisions in our house and wait to be invited to help each other in their activities

barbaramcgibben Wed 29-Apr-20 09:10:32

I get really upset. There are few things I consider as my own which I cherish and he has no consideration for them and no awareness of my feelings.

When DH last got involved in "my" activity it was gardening and resulted in him pulling all my carefully placed plants up....or "weeds" as he called them. Or the time before that when he "helped" finish the mastic around the bath. Result was big blobs of the stuff everywhere...

Pre-lockdown I would tend to be irrationally annoyed and pass comment that it wasn't being done as I would do it - however whilst thrown back on each others company 24/7 I think we have both become kinder and slower to criticise and now I try to think "1 less chore for me" and I also realise he needs new things to do whilst normal pursuits are unavailable.

glenka Wed 29-Apr-20 07:17:22

I wouldn't mind as it's nice to be able to share something.

wallers5 Wed 29-Apr-20 06:42:56

We share the kayaking. He is a stronger paddler than me.

We do a lot together - gardening, walking, cooking, drinking a glass or two at the end of the day, watching some TV, but we do have separate interests too- he wouldn’t be remotely interested in sewing or yoga and I am not interested in guitars or woodwork. Makes for a healthy relationship if we have some space of our own to retreat to, so no I’m happy with the balance of having some separate, and some shared, interests.

I would love my husband to get involved in my things - the cooking, cleaning, ironing etc. If he did get involved I'd be delighted,

Arriaga Wed 29-Apr-20 00:04:38

Happy for my partner to be involved - during lockdown we have been cooking together more which I love.

hopezibah Tue 28-Apr-20 23:22:59

can be a bit annoying depending on what it is but also good to have shared interests!

Liljan Tue 28-Apr-20 23:16:47

My husband loves to get involved in anything I’m doing, from pottering around the house, baking, gardening
to just making the bed, then last year he went through chemo and all of a sudden I was doing these things on my own, chemo is now over and I’ve got my lovely husband back...long may it continue to have him want to get involved in whatever I’m doing.

traceyanne Tue 28-Apr-20 22:31:26

I tell him in a very diplomatic way, or try to.....unless it's cooking and then he can take that one for the team any day of the week...

Amputea Tue 28-Apr-20 22:19:05

He is a bit of a know it all he would probably try to tell me how to do it making me laugh.

Revolucion Tue 28-Apr-20 22:05:52

I’m always looking for ways we can spend more time together so I’d welcome it as long as he didn’t try to TAKE OVER!!!

Scottieboi Tue 28-Apr-20 21:51:19

An argument probably, LOL! wink

genie10 Tue 28-Apr-20 21:39:56

Unlikely. I can't see him sewing!

LolaHolaSnr Tue 28-Apr-20 21:37:37

We share most things but if he 'helpfully' lends a hand (hanging out washing or folding it afterwards) I usually end up doing it all again anyway lol.

busterjames Tue 28-Apr-20 20:46:03

My interests would not really be of interest to my husband so we do our own thing at home ,I can knit and bake knowing he is happy in the shed or greenhouse .

Slinkerb3ll Tue 28-Apr-20 20:30:11

I'm happy that he's interested, unless he's better than me then all hell would break loose ?

sarahex1 Tue 28-Apr-20 19:35:37

I don't mind at all it adds to the motivation!

cillastubbs Tue 28-Apr-20 18:21:00

We share most things and I don't think he would be very interested in my stuff, doing jigsaws and knitting, not really his thin. However, I do all the cooking but to be fair he does all the prepping
