My favourite type of book to read is Crime Thrillers and my favourite author has to be Phillip Margolin. I have read all of his books (except his latest one) and would highly recommend them to those who are looking for a good “can’t put down” novel (be aware that his books can be a bit gruesome though). I’m really surprised that he is not better known, because he really is a fantastic author, so give him a try if you’re looking for a new name to add to your list.

My favourite book of his so far is “Violent Crimes” which was his last book in his “Amanda Jaffe” series. Amanda is a veteran lawyer and the cases she takes on always have a twist in the story. Phillip Margolin does this so well.

I haven’t read any Karin Slaughter novels yet, but have “Triptych” sitting on my bedside table to read after my current Dan Brown novel.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a great read. Always look for a compelling story with a twist

I like all sorts of books , but if we are talking thrillers I dont think there is anything better than the green mile by Stephen King .I like it because it has some parts where you just want the truth to come out , you want people to find out that John Coffey is innocent, which obviously the important people find out, but it's so sad when he is still executed as being the reader , you know that he is I innocent and in fact tried to save the victims. I think I like something that has a bit of a back story about the lives of the characters which this has.Iam not generally a king fan , I tend to go for more obscure authors. I must admit that I haven't discovered this author yet but I am really hoping that I get the chance ! I need something to really get into , especially with a uk holiday approaching, nothing better than enjoying a good story and knowing you have more lined up , cant wait.

Paper Girls by Alex Smith

I'm a huge fan of Harlan Coben,I've read pretty much everything he's ever written.His books are famously twisty and unpredictable,which I love.

I really enjoyed 'The Bed I Made' by Lucie Whitehouse - a bit of a slow burner, but beautifully written & truly chilling - it stuck with me for years after reading it.
I also really enjoy reading Clare Mackintosh's books, with 'I Let You Go' being a particular favourite!

Dead in Devon by Stephanie Austin. It’s a real page turner set in the antique industry and beautiful Devon. Two wonderful worlds

Impossible to just choose one book. Favourite author must be Val McDermid...just the right amount of suspense and very well written.Also recommend Elly Griffiths for a gentler type of crime novel than the thriller ones.

C J Tudor has to be my new favourite author. Received her first book The Chalk Man as a gift & I’ve been hooked ever since. Now reading The Burning Girls (4th book) which is gripping. Mixture of who dun-nit & the dark & macabre. Thoroughly enjoyed them & recommend.

I love thrillers. Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was the most memorable and I went on to buy the whole set. I was totally immersed in the story, it was well written.
Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn, was another great one.

Loved the Red Riding Quartet by David Peace. The historical backdrop and police corruption story are gripping.

Crime and thriller novels are my favourite genre. I love the suspense and the escapist nature of them.
My all time favourite is A Place of Execution by Val McDermid.

Don't have a favourite but really enjoyed Orphan X series of books. When there is a double twist and you can't work out what is going to happen - that makes a really good book!

What an impossible choice to make! I think I would have to say Mark Billingham is one of my faves - have read all of them and they are totally absorbing, page turning, peppered with humour and a huge amount of gritty realism - fabulous!
Read all the Agatha Christies when younger and loved those too. Ditto Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine - such talent.
I discovered a lesser know writer called Tania Carver who is totally amazing - read all her books which again are total page turners and keep you up all night waiting for the denouement!
A more recent favourite is "The Other Passenger" by Louise Candlish and "I made a mistake" by Jane Corry - highly recommended and brilliant characterisation.
I really enjoy "looking in" on the action in crime/thrillers being grateful its not me, and yet finding total absorbtion in the plots and being knocked sideways when the story suddenly twists and turns unexpectedly.

I enjoy reading crime/thriller books because they get my brain ticking over as I work through them & their clues.

I was very wrapped up in The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins but at the moment am enjoying the gentler The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman, which is also full of humour and witty observations about us oldies!

I'm enjoying 'Pine' by Francine Toon, very scary so I read it in the dining room instead of bedroom!

I loved the Inspector Montalbano books (in English translation) long before the wonderful Comisario appeared on our TV screen (in Italian with subtitles). They have intriguing plots, brilliant characters, a light touch of humour and the wonderful setting in a part of Sicily that I know well. If you enjoyed watching the series, and the prequels 'Young Montalbano', you would love the original books by Andrea Camilleri.

I thoroughly enjoy Peter May's series - currently working my way through the China ones.

Love the Harry Bosch series. My preferred reading is always crime and thriller books as I love the intrigue. I have to like the protagonist though, if they are unlikeable with lots of 'issues' then I don't read the book!

I don't really have a favourite because I like all of them. If I had to pick one it would have to be Dogs of Riga by Henning Mankell. I also like all Stephen King, kathy Reichs, Dean Koontz and many more. I like to try and figure out what the end will be (without cheating). I will read almost anything as I have loved reading since I was little.

The House at Sea’s End by Elly Griffiths. I love ti try and guess what's coming next and then enjoy the ending.

My favourite thriller author is Robert Goddard - he writes such interesting books.

I love Peter James. Once I start reading his books I can't put them down. Also they are all based in the area I live.

I love all thrillers/crime novels. Favourites have to be Sue Grafton, Agatha Christie, Jo Nesbo. Also both writers use places around the area I live in. Quentin Jardine and LJ Ross as Have lots lined up to read but at moment re reading all Sue Grafton's again as I now have the "Y" book, but to be truthful I love most crime books.

I've just read 33 women by Isabel Ashdown. Some interesting twists. The Simon Serailler series remains a top favourite though.
