He watches.
A woman runs alone in the woods. She convinces herself she has no reason to be afraid, but she’s wrong. A predator is stalking the women of Grant County. He lingers in the shadows, until the time is just right to snatch his victim.

He waits.
A decade later, the case has been closed. The killer is behind bars. But then another young woman is brutally attacked and left for dead, and the MO is identical.

He takes.
Although the original trail has gone cold – memories have faded, witnesses have disappeared – agent Will Trent and forensic pathologist Sara Linton must re-open the cold case. But the clock is ticking, and the killer is determined to find his perfect silent wife….

Lindsey Davis's falco series. Loved them, could read them over and over.

Blacklands by Belinda Bauer was very intense and gripping, almost chewing my nails with suspense. At the moment i am reading Last House on Needleless Street, very spooky

My favourite thriller book is Girl on the train by Paula Hawkins.

I love Stieg Larrson's Millenium trilogy. The follow on novels by David Lagercrantz are very light and weak in comparison. Clare Mackintosh's books are excellent as well.

Donna Leon, writer of the Commissario Brunetti mystery series, set in Venice, is a great favourite of mine. I'm currently reading "The Temptations of Forgiveness" in which we meet the usual cast of characters. Brunetti is a rare fictional detective in having a normal family life - wife and two teenagers. Their dialogue as a family is natural and often amusing. His colleagues include the omniscient and glamorous Signorina Elettra, a source of all possible information to be gleaned from the internet. The interplay of characters combined with a seemingly insoluble plot make this and irresistible read.

The Inspector Ikman novels by Barbara Nadel. A Turkish policeman based in Istanbul.
You learn a lot about the city and its culture, as well as being really exciting crime novels.

"Hidden" by Casey Hill. one of a series of unputdownable books. I like to guess the"who done it"

My favourite crime thriller is Fifty-Fifty by Steve Cavanagh

I love books by Ann Cleeves. The television series Vera is based on these books and they are a great read. The mixture of mystery and well observed family relationships make them absorbing and real. She has been awarded the CWA Diamond Dagger and has a series of books all eminently readable and all make me feel like I’ve lost a friend when I finish them.

I love thrillers and there are so many great ones out there, but recently I loved Clare Mackintosh's Let Me Lie. I love the plots and trying to work out what is going to happen next. Not good for bedtime reading as sometimes I can't put a thriller down, better left for daytime!

williamsgwynfa Sat 24-Apr-21 18:26:52

I love the twists and turns in thrillers. I especially enjoy the
Rizzoli & Isles series by Tess Gerritsen and the Karin Slaughter books.

Diane7 Sat 24-Apr-21 18:14:13

It would have to be Patricia Cornwell and her crime books about Kay Scarpetta. I have really enjoyed reading her books from the beginning and seeing how Kay's career developed including the ups and downs. I looked forward to each new book in the series.

I love reading Stuart Macbride murder mysteries. Based in Scotland they have a tongue in cheek humour that reminds me of books by Chris Brookmyre.

Killer Triggers by Joe Kenda

babcia Sat 24-Apr-21 16:04:55

Harlan Coben. His books always have an unexpected twist at the end

Any Lee Child book, with the unstoppable Jack Reacher that's the top of the pile for me every time.

garwen Sat 24-Apr-21 13:49:37

Murder on the Orient Express. I love the suspense of a thriller and the surprise at the end.

Granny007 Sat 24-Apr-21 12:47:58

One of my favourite thrillers is 'Murder on the Orient Express' by Agatha Christie. I enjoy the challenge of trying to discover answers before the writers tell us. It also trains your brain xxx

ujhunt1961 Sat 24-Apr-21 11:29:53

I love a lot of different crime and thriller writers so could not pick just one. They are the books I usually read because I love the darkness of some and trying to solve it myself as I go along

helenlp Sat 24-Apr-21 09:36:46

I love any thriller with a good plot. My favourite writer is probably Ian Rankin but I love Ruth Rendell and lots of the Scandi writers too. My all time favourites are the Stieg Larsson Millenium books, especially The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Gerald's Game by Stephen King because it takes you into a scary world and your imagination runs wild with the situation the character is left in No wonder the film couldn't get anywhere close to this outstanding read
