I enjoyed the Brodie Jackson series by Kate Atkinson. The characters and plot lines are a little more quirky than most thrillers/detective novels.

Thrillers and murder stories are definitely my genre of books! I have just finished reading The Catch by T M Logan which was excellent, but I do love Ian Rankin, Val Mcdermid and Nicci French to name a few! Would love to win this prize!

Anything by Ruth Rendall ! Great writer. Also Agatha Christie. Love to be kept on the edge of my seat. Trouble is I often can't wait to see what happens next so end up going to bed far too late.

I love crime thrillers , my all time fav author has to be Val McDermid, who wrote the wire in the blood series which was also shown on TV with Robson Green. I like gritty thrillers, but they must be realistic, with good characters. I have recently got into Cara Hunter, have found all her books to be brilliant storylines. Throughout the first lockdown I read all f the Mo Hayder - Jack Caffrey series, quite chilling and got me hooked!

As a family we have loved the thriller genre, one of my favourites is Clive Cuddler, I cannot put his books down! Wonderful escapes whisking me around the globe!

Any Patricia Cornwall Scarpetta book. Thriller/Crime on the whole, tense, gripping, unputdownable

Any of the crime novels written by Ruth Rendell - especially those set in Suffolk, such as 'No Night is Too Long' (written as Barbara Vine) or 'A Dark Adapted Eye' also written as Barbara Vine. I love the way that Rendell/Vine creates an atmosphere through her choice of settings; the credible and emotionally engaging yet exciting characters; and most of all, providing an escape from everyday life (especially in lockdown) - a chance to lose yourself in a page-turning plot and forget about everything else that's happening in the world.

Love Ian Rankin books. I really enjoy the ones set in areas of Scotland I grew up in as it adds that little bit more.

My favourite thriller is Gone Girl. I just love the way the book makes you not want to put it down. The film is not a patch on the book! I love thrillers as it makes the brain think and I like to guess myself the outcome. I am usually wrong!

Enjoy crime thrillers such as those penned by Mark Bellingham. I like the continuity of using the same detective I.e. Tom Thorne as their character develops over the stories as well as the stories each time, which are gripping and relentlessly paced so you are not left going, yeh I know who did it etc. On the contrary you get to know the workings of the mind of the killer along the way, so you feel a little ‘scared’ when they are carrying out their plans. At the moment I am reading FROM THE DEAD - by BM which is as usual a good read.

Elly Griffiths writes real page turners. I particularly like Now You See Them a detective story that unravels past crimes and The Lantern Men a crime story set in Norfolk. Both show a different side of Elly’s writing. A real talent.

Agatha Christie! My favourite is 'The Mysterious Affair at Styles' but guess that's not classed as a thriller, so another vote for 'The Murder of Roger Ackroyd'.

Oh I love reading thrillers.
I go through phases of reading whole series from an author. I loved the Kathy Reichs ones, as well as PD James and CJ Box as well as all the very famous ones.
At the moment I just waiting for the last one of Stuart McBrides ones set in Aberdeen. Love reading them as I am familiar with all the setting and places in the book which makes it very funny to read.

I have just finished The Curator by M.W. Craven it was brilliant and gripping plus being the third book in the series it's great to catch up with Poe & Tilly
I find thrillers and mystery books to be extremely entertaining and keep me guessing plus take me away from everyday life if I had to choose between murder mystery / thrillers & romantic homely books it would be the former every time

Give me a good thriller any day, especially ones by Lee Child -the Jack Reacher series. Once I start one of his books I just can’t put it down. I love being totally absorbed in a book. I have just read Blue Moon, which like all his books did not disappoint.

I enjoy Patricia Cornwell's work and also Claire Francis' Wolf Winter. Always interesting to have a mixture of crime, politics and travelogue.

My favourite opening sentence of a thriller is from Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow- "....it's snowing, and in the language which is no longer mine, the snow is qanik....." - such a sense of unbearable loss that pulls you in.
I like most thrillers - a snowy setting is good, learning something new (eg the Swedish legal system in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is great, and please don't ask me to suspend my disbelief too high!

I like the Jack Reacher books. I love reading thrillers because they keep you guessing!

Bringing Adam Home by Les Standiford I love reading thrillers because l love trying to figure out the plot and l find them intriguing

This Sweet Sickness by Patricia Highsmith. It's a slow, subtle story with a creeping sense of uneasiness.

My favourite thriller is Watchers by Dean Koontz - great storytelling and characters, fantastic pace!
