I’m an avid crime fiction fan and have so many favourite authors it’s so hard to choose. One of my all time favourite authors is James Lee Burke, the Robicheaux series is not only a terrific crime series but is some of the best writing I have ever read. My favourite book is ‘ Black Cherry Blues’ one of the earlier books in the series.

A book I would recommend reading is I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes. It has everything I want from a terrific thriller and you have to keep turning to the next page as the excitement builds. I hope his next book is as good.

I love thrillers because they keep you hooked. you want to know who done it! I was hooked by The Poison Garden. I used to like Agatha Christie but perhaps a bit dated now.

It has to be Ladykiller by Martina Cole, It was so gruesome and horrific it had me hooked, it was so disgusting it was absolutely brilliant. I've read all her books since but I'll never ever forget that book!

I have always loved Agatha Christie, whether it's Poirot, Miss Marple or another, she always keeps you guessing to the end.

I love a good thriller as I love working out (although I'm normally wrong!) the ending. I love Karin Slaughter books, however, my favourite thriller book would be Trust In Me by Sophie McKenzie.

I like Ruth rendell, like books that keep you guessing and have lots of plot twists.

TONKATOL Mon 03-May-21 23:31:45

I enjoy reading crime/thriller books. I think it was James Patterson's Alex Cross series of books that got me into this genre. I love reading anyway but I definitely enjoy a bit of suspense when I'm reading and a few twists always add to the fun. The only downside for me is, if these books have short chapters, like James Patterson's books tend to have, I can't put the book down until I have finished it!

I enjoy trying to read the clues within a book and work out who is not who they seem to be. Sometimes it is quite predictable but I prefer to be kept guessing until the end.

The most original I had read for some time is "The Girl on the Train" but I also really enjoyed "Bird box" - the book was so much better than the film

Chrissy1 Mon 03-May-21 22:20:13

I love any book written by sam Carrington. She writes fabulous thrillers. All her books are so gripping.

poshpink Mon 03-May-21 20:33:16

Thrillers keep me on the edge of my seat - great page turners with plenty of twists and turns that scare the 'living daylights' out of me. Hard to choose a 'Best' book - Anything by Harlan Coben - very gruesome and grisly especially the early ones.

Kazzy Mon 03-May-21 18:44:33

Love Harlan Coben books (and TV series on Netflix) The Stranger was a good read and so was Safe , I am currently watching the Safe series on Netflix and will be especially interested to see the new Netflix series Stay Close after reading the book as my youngest son has been helping with current filming in Manchester and also has a cameo appearance in it smile

djillanne Mon 03-May-21 17:57:35

I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes - keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way through
