Our women's group is having one of our meetings we think we would like strawberry dacquiris and canapes as the food? Has anyone a really good recipe for a great dacquiri someone said a drop of cassis brings out the flavour? And if anyone has a great "to die for " - not literally canape recipe I would really appreciate it.

Classic Strawberry Daiquiri

For each serving, put 4 cracked ice cubes* into a glass. Pour 1 measure white rum, 1/2 measure strawberry liqueur (ideally crème de fraises des bois) and 1/2 measure lime cordial into a blender and whizz for 30 seconds. Pour into the chilled glass and decorate with a small strawberry on the rim.

* To crack ice cubes, put them into a plastic bag, seal the top and hit them with a rolling pin or against an outside wall.

Hope you're feeling better toothfairy. Standard European bar measures are 25 ml and 35 ml. If you don't have a bar measure or jigger – and why would you if you don't make cocktails – you could use a tablespoon. 2 tablespoons = 30 ml, so kind of half way in between. A half-full eggcup is about the same. As long as you measure all the ingredients with the same measure, the mix will work.
