Annobel S'pose so! But don't like fishing grin

Annobel Fri 04-May-12 11:55:59

janthea - you could always go out and catch it yourself, couldn't you? wink

Pigeon Fri 04-May-12 11:14:07

Think I'm getting out of my depth here. - all your menus are much more sophisticated than mine.

It was the Quinnellse of Pike that did it for me - had to look it up on 't'internet' (as we say in Yorkshire).

I concede defeat and will stick to pie and chips! envy

gangy5 To be honest, it has been ages since I cooked pike. The last lot was from a kind fishing friend. However, I'm sure Harrods must stock it!!! hmm

janthea where does your pike come from?? I loved eating it in Prague when we visited. The menus above sound delicious.
I'm always amused by how poorly the CDWM participants can cook and wonder why they enter. Quite often they state that they've never cooked a certain dish before!!??
Still it makes things very amusing for us watchers!

nanaej Thu 03-May-12 14:54:19

Me too whenim64! Off to shop for supper soon..it is going to be difficult to decide what to get now!

whenim64 Thu 03-May-12 14:40:01

I like watching Come Dine With Me, especially for the funny comments made by Dave Lamb.

I would serve:

Goats cheese and green pesto bruschetta
Duck breast with cherries in red wine sauce, with game chips and pak choi
Apple tarte tatin and home made vanilla ice cream

I would happily eat any of the previous meals - they sound delicious! smile

janthea Thu 03-May-12 14:21:09

I used to enjoy it when it was first one, but it has become a programme of strange people and less about food.

I would serve

Quenelles of Pike in a shrimp sauce
Duck Breast with a Port and Cranberry Sauce, pomme Dauphanoise and creamed spinach
Zabaglione.

Darn it - now I'm hungry again grin

nanaej Thu 03-May-12 13:48:21

CDWM is indeed a nonsense show but I enjoy it too! I once realised I was watching a childhood friend on it which was weird!

I would serve you:

Roast Mediterranean Vegetable Salad

Sea bass with Fennel Sauce on wilted spinach with saute potatoes

Vanilla Pannacotta with almonds and a raspberry coulis

Pigeon Thu 03-May-12 12:43:28

I just LOVE CDWM!! Yes, yes I know it's rubbish, but strangley adictive I think and sometimes it's all I can deal with (don't like serious stuff on TV - just want to be entertained). I usually watch pre-recorded back episodes when prancing around on my mini-trampoline doing my morning excercise regime.

Here's my menu:

Seared scallops with chorizo
Rack of lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and summer vegetables
Pear and Almond tart with fresh cream

Enjoy!

(and thanks for starting the thread - a really good idea I think!)

grin

Due to the everlasting rain I have been watching more TV than usual and find myself drwan to CDWM which is compete rubbish. Given that we are all too sensible to put ourselves forward for this show shall we do it on here.? What would your menu be - well it helps to while away an hour or two until the rain stops.
