Boycott of milk from supermarkets.

Is't it ridiculous that people are prepared to pay more for bottled water than for milk? We are lucky to be able to get ours from a local dairy farm who deliver every other day and long may they flourish!

Oh Jamie fine words but they don"t butter the parsnips , glass houses and own goals spring to mind , did you not know Freshways supply milk to your 3 restaurants , doh !!

We don't have doorstep delivery here anymore , we used to 30 years ago

If I don't buy from a super market where do I buy it from, bearing in mind I live an hour away from town so carbon footprint would have to be taken into consideration. All 'we' want as consumers is to be able to buy a product that is of good quality, a fair price and that farmers get a fair share of the profits but thats seems to be to much to ask for

Apparently on BBC News this morning Tesco, Waitrose, M&S and Sainsbury all pay above cost price for their milk, so it's fine to buy from those.

I buy Cravendale from Waitrose. I wonder if that is affected! I used to get my milk delivered, but the deliveries got later and later and came after I had left for work. I had to cancel service unfortunately.

Most of us are only able to buy milk in supermarkets and this is why they have such a hold over the customers and prices paid to the distributors. Milk is a regular purchase for most and once inside the shop we are likely to buy other things! " ding ding"!! - marketing tactic.

Similar thing with petrol has developed. There are no small petrol stations left around here and now that they have been quashed the supermarkets can fix the price. "every little helps" - who? the supermarkets or the customers?

I've been having doorstep milk for a fortnight and it's going well. Only puzzling thing is that no-one has been to collect payment, I now realise I don't know the name of the dairy, and the milkman who called to ask me if I wanted milk said I could pay online, but didn't give me account details. How strange!

Waitrose and M&S and Tesco (I think) were reported as paying more than the Co-op and Asda

And what if you can't get doorstep delivery? Are small shops any better than supermarkets?
