Can any one please tell me why shops like M&S sell special Christmas food, that you can't freeze, with a BBF date of 23rd December? Do the not know when Christmas is? I so wanted to buy those fabby looking cracker shaped chocolate mousses for Christmas, and it's the last time I am going to M&S before the day. Now I need to decide if I am going back or I go without. WWYD?

I'd ignore the date - I do all the time!

Me too - if the food is tempting enough!

Yes. So long as it's only a Best Before, not a Use By.

Mind you, now you've come away, you have to decide how much you want them? smile

I know what you mean and if it were me I would, but I am feeding five children, some of whom are still young so not sure I would be too happy sad

No. Don't risk it on children. How close is M & S to you? Walkable?

nanapug Tue 18-Dec-12 17:14:24

No j05, sadly not walkable, quite a drive away. Not that I could walk as my leg is in plaster anyway smile

Oh no! sad

Try to forget them. grin

Complain bitterly to M and S - cheeky sods.

It's best before, but not use by, date. I would have bought it. If you go back, you may find the BB date has now reached Christmas Day, anyway. Have a good root around at the back of the display for the freshest ones.

It was today I went whenim64 and sadly they were all the same date. Did have a moan JessM, I'm pretty good at that ;) Was just looking for something easy but special to save me cooking too much. Seems that although I am "plastered" I can still produce a meal for eleven!!! I think maybe I have been to capable in the past, but that's another thread maybe ;)

The other annoyance is magazines and TV programmes that come up with exotic and complicated Christmas recipes in the week before Christmas- like anyone's got time to rush round sourcing weird ingredients or odd shaped cake tins!
