Pippa's in, Delia's out

What's your verdict?

Ella46 Wed 27-Feb-13 18:06:07

j08 Wed 27-Feb-13 18:04:11

j08 Wed 27-Feb-13 18:03:52

Bet Absent has.

j08 Wed 27-Feb-13 18:03:34

Have you heard of pinkpeppercorns?

j08 Wed 27-Feb-13 18:03:05

Oh alright! Just looked delicious! hmm grin

The venison stew then.

They've got to have somebody doing it!! hmm

Nearly all the celeb cooks have a recipe for Devil's Food Cake - not very original!

j08 Wed 27-Feb-13 17:57:43

very Waitrose (pink peppercorns!)

j08 Wed 27-Feb-13 17:51:30

Oooh look Might be ok!

gracesmum Wed 27-Feb-13 17:29:38

Brilliant! Merlot hail to the Muse!

merlotgran Wed 27-Feb-13 17:17:06

You may well ask, grannybug

Who is Pippa? What is she?
That Waitrose doth commend her?
Crafty, slim and wise is she;
A heavenly rear did lend her,
That she might admired be.

Is she smart and can she bake?
To sell her party pieces:
Columns do much money make,
To help dear Waitrose fleece us,
As our dosh they strive to take.

Then to Delia let us sing,
That Delia is excelling;
She improves each culinary thing
Upon the Aga dwelling:
Waitrose let her recipes sing.

Apologies to Will Shakespeare

Waitrose want to sell all the wide ranging ingredients they stock. Not just the flours and caster sugars.

j08 Wed 27-Feb-13 15:02:29

No. But they would be looking for more up-to-date cooking features than Delia might come out with.

A lot of younger men are very into their cookery these days don't you know?! grin

gillybob Wed 27-Feb-13 14:50:34

Do the "young male singletons" think she is going to be working on the bloody checkout j08 grin

j08 Wed 27-Feb-13 14:45:51

And probably at the young male singletons.

j08 Wed 27-Feb-13 14:45:30

Waitrose are aiming at the yummy-mummys who probably can do the basics. grin

Ella46 Wed 27-Feb-13 14:42:20

You need to be able to cook "boring" before you can do "wildly exciting"! grin

j08 Wed 27-Feb-13 14:13:47

Waitrose' s. Not waitress!

j08 Wed 27-Feb-13 14:12:36

I agree with mamalinda. Give her a chance. Delia sooo boring!

I don't normally buy that mag. Will give it a try now though.

Waitress free "newspaper" is good.

gracesmum Wed 27-Feb-13 14:06:13

Whereas many people of the masculine inclination might have a more vivid memory of the other end? grin

johanna Wed 27-Feb-13 13:58:44

Yes, Feetle that's the one.
It is the eyes which reminded me.

gracesmum Wed 27-Feb-13 13:47:00

Pippa Middleton, Grannybug - as in Kate Middleton? smile

Grannybug Wed 27-Feb-13 13:14:18

Who is Pippa? I recognise Delia's name but haven't a clue re Pippa! Better get back in the cupboard under the stairs then! Lol

GrandmaH Wed 27-Feb-13 12:52:30

I always finish up going back to Delia if I want to be 100% sure a recipe will work. Likewise Mary Berry with cakes although I have to say the book by Jo Wheatley who won GBB time before last is very good indeed & everything I have made out of it has been perfect. I like Lorraine Pascale too & the chinese lady who had a TV programme & everything she made was so easy to copy! I can't remember her name but she had 2 books out.
I like Delicious magazine too- all the recipes have a colour photo.
Can't get on with Jamie- too many ingredients.
How many cookery books do YOU have???
I'd need a while to count them all personally.

feetlebaum Wed 27-Feb-13 12:20:54

johanna "she looks very much like the ventriloquist puppet of years ago."

Archie Andrews?

Stansgran Wed 27-Feb-13 12:11:04

Surely Waitrose want a royal warrant from Pippa's sister and DH
