DH is watching the Paul Hollywood bread series.

I was presented with a list of things that if I didnt have them in cupboard would I get them on the shopping.

Yesterday he made a bloomer after watching the programme....... If I am asked once more what do I think of the texture, taste or quality I think someone is going to be wearing this loaf. shock

The second loaf he dropped on the floor after the proving and broke DD favourite red mixing bowl!

He has just come in and a look of panic on his face "you haven't thrown out my bread have you".

Why is it that DH when he cooks, bakes etc we have to have a post mortum on the item not once but over and over again...just as well we dont have to go through it every meal I make. hmm

And the second programme is on tonight shock oh what is in store this weekend!!!!

grin rant over grin

I've gone off him a bit after seeing more of him (IYKWIM grin ). I didn't watch GBBO.

glassortwo Wed 27-Mar-13 20:22:22

I would just go with the veg and enjoy your wine moomin grin

moomin Wed 27-Mar-13 20:15:43

Your OP glass has really had me chuckling! I can visualise the whole thing grin

My OH cooks our Sunday evening meal each week, baked salmon, veges and "new" potatoes. At least four saucepans are used, all the veges (including frozen sweet corn and peas) are left in the pans in cold water for an hour (or so ...) before cooking. Haven't the heart to tell him he isn't doing it quite right, mainly because I'm sitting with my feet up enjoying a glass of wine! My treat from cooking for the week smile

PS Going off topic here, sorry.

G B Sew off ? sounds interesting. Went to my son's engagement party last week. The young women were discussing how they hadn't been taught to sew and were excited about going on a course to sew cushion covers. These skills must not die out or where will we be come the revolution?
Can sew and follow a pattern but never learned to knit despite my granny being a champion knitter. She tried hard to teach me but couldn't be bothered. Perhaps we need a Great British knit off.wink

DH has decided he's going to have a go at Paul Hollywood's hot cross buns on Good Friday. The grandchildren will be arriving at tea time so he'd better make plenty!

glassortwo Wed 27-Mar-13 20:01:08

Killing myself laughing here. So so happy that everybody's DH seems to be identical to mine when it comes to cooking.
They turn themselves into CHEFS !! Even when just cooking the SIMPLEST thing like spag bol.

And yes it has to be like a military operation. Just cook one?
No no he will cook four all at once. One for the day and three for the freezer.
And he glows with achievement .................
Never mind that the mince came from the freezer in the first place and is then cooked and re-frozen. Where is the nutritional value in that?
And the taste is very so so anyway.

In the meantime he stands there by the Aga using the thing as if it is a steam engine. Door open- door closed. Lid open-lid closed. And so on. And so on.
Well I am sure you can picture it.
But he does clean up as well.wink

'The Great British Sew off' starts next week, I hope it is as good as the Bake Off. Paul was on last night with Mary Berry, she puts him in his place when he gets cocky! I have printed off her Easter Pavlova recipe, it was clever in that it used the egg yolks left over from the meringue in a lemon curd.

Envious America; he was a judge on the great British Bake off with Mary Berry. He has the most wonderful blue eyes. It was a problem when contestants had "soggy bottoms" and they were soon out of the competition. it was a very popular programme last winter on BBC.

It has inspired many people who buy cakes to have a go at home.

My DH will cook but never bake, unlike my sons who are both great cooks. DS often bakes with his kids, they love it.

Can I borrow Mr P. he may need a week to clean my sides but could do with him! Please!!!!!

My DH likes Joanna Lumley, don't know if she can bake tho.

Sook Mon 25-Mar-13 23:33:59

glass DH drools when he watches Nigella grin

Ella grin

Enviousamerican Mon 25-Mar-13 23:25:33

Me not knowing who he is I looked him up on Wikipedia and it stated he had made a almond and Roquefort sourdough bread that was sold at Harrods for£15 a loaf. Hope you didn't pay that much for ingredients Glassortwo!

Anne58 Mon 25-Mar-13 23:21:53

glass Mr P has other talents too! wink

He deep cleans an oven like you would never believe! Even takes the things off the side that the racks and shelves slide into!

merlotgran Mon 25-Mar-13 23:18:12

I've made the bloomer. It was HUGE. Who needs a breadmaker when you've got Paul Hollywood to show you how to banish the Bingo Wings!! grin

Ella46 Mon 25-Mar-13 23:16:08

He certainly is a very attractive man, but I find him just a tad too cocky, and ever so slightly patronising.
However, I wouldn't say no! grin and I don't just mean to the bread!

Flowerofthewest Mon 25-Mar-13 23:04:47

He is gorgeous and those eyes!!!! Bread Porn!

glassortwo Mon 25-Mar-13 23:02:44

gracesmum Mon 25-Mar-13 22:51:08

But he does have the most amazing blue eyes! And the way he kneads bread................

glassortwo Mon 25-Mar-13 19:51:17

What doesnt help is that I am not eating bread at the moment and have had to be tempted to taste. shock

glassortwo Mon 25-Mar-13 19:50:00

I am going to send Dh to see MrP phoenix and he can show him howto just get on with it. DH is a very good but messy cook its the constant going over it is doing my head in.
