When I make sloe gin, I reckon to end up with twice the volume of the original gin - so it fills a bottle twice as big as the one that the gin was in.

Sorry Absent never thought about the amount! I just know I have to turn it every so often so I was thinking something like a big pickle jar smile

I have a large glass sweet jar (the type seet shops have) and because it is so big I have to put 2 bottles of gin in - such a shame !

We use 1 1/2 or 2l Kilner jars.

I haven't seen the original post but probably a kilner jar. With these type of recipes you usually need to be stirring for a week or so, or at least until the sugar has dissolved. Harder to do in a demi-john.

Depends how much gin.

sorry can't find the original post. I have the damsons and the gin but what sort of container should I use? would a kilner jar do or do I need something like a demi-john?
