Just looking at a recipe for mushroom stroganoff.
It calls for vegetarian dry sherry?[hnn]

Some wines and beers are clarified using gelatine or isinglass, I think that's what they mean.

My copy of Animal Free Shopper states that the production of spirits does not appear to involve the use of animal ingredients. They include port and sherry in the lists of spirits.
All Harvey's sherries are vegan.

All Co-op own brand food, including alcoholic drinks ,will say whether they are vegetarian or vegan on the label.

Always found that useful myself.
