Made this last night - YUM! Instead of anchovies I cooked some bacon, which I'd chopped into small pieces, and threw that into the mix. Delicious meal, filling but not heavy. Thanks thatbags flowers

It's the same as a recipe my Mum used to make, except she only added grated cheese.
I often make it too, with Tuna, sweet corn and a little onion.

Thanks thatbags, you've made my day! I've just found a pack of bacon that needs using today, and this sounds ideal.

Thanks thatbags I spotted the mention and meant to ask.

Sounds excellent, will try this. I imagine you could add tined tuna, sardines, mushrooms or as bags says, beans/etc. Great

Mmm. Sounds delicious. Apart from the anchovies. Which I have never eaten, but just don't fancy. I will use bacon.

Dragonfly1 Fri 21-Mar-14 20:37:24

Bacon sounds good. Thanks. I'll be giving it a go!

You could try small pieces of bacon, dragonfly. So long as you're not a vegetarian, that is. Some beans (aduki or red kidney beans) would work, I think.

bags, any suggestions for a replacement for the anchovies? I don't eat fish....

Bellasnana Fri 21-Mar-14 20:04:26

Sounds delicious - I shall be trying this out when I get back home smile

that featured briefly on the selfies thread, was dead good. I've put the recipe _here_ . You can vary the ingredients but this combination worked particularly well.

When I say 'ancient' anchovies, the date on the tin was June 2013.
