TONIGHT`S DINNER

Rump steaks tonight and Rosiebee I`m trying your DHs marinade in fact they are marinading as I type

Dd is cooking. It's fish fingers new potatoes and broccoli all round.

Butternut squash and apple soup, Heston's smoked bacon grilled and served in brioche rolls. Very sweet and yummy. [Smile]

Jacket spuds, sausages done in onion marmalade jam, Mediterranean veg, and lots of other veg skulking around in my fridge. M and S trifle. 2 glasses of red wine, not both for me .

Son and partner coming to dinner tonight, so I have made a curry in the slow cooker which should be, - hopefully, - lovely. Smells gorgeous already.
Busy making cakes for our village fete tomorrow.

Ahhh...kittyl the glorious smell of all that roasted pork wafting from the kitchen and the delicious sweet taste of honey and herbs with lashings of buttery mashed potatoes. Its no good, I must return to my lettuce leaf and grated carrot, but thanks for the dream!

Belly pork, slow roasted with fennel seeds and thyme, and a sauce made with fried shallots and sherry! All served with mash and honey roasted carrots! Lovely!

We have gone posh today with venison steaks, bernaise sauce, Mediterranean veg and new potatoes.

Don't supermarkets have some fab meals on sale now. I wonder what my Mum and Dad would have made of it.

Gnocchi with spinach and mushrooms. Perfect antidote to all these wretched barbecues!

Delicious lentil bake recipe was found in Radio Times recently and is quite dellectable

(Only because ds is coming and it's his favourite!)

Farmers market, outdoor reared, onion sausages. Waiting to see what culinary delight DH is going to prepare with them!

I have made a huge pot of Bolognaise sauce which is bubbling away nicely in the crock-pot .
I will then boil some spaghetti and we will eat it at about 6.30 after the afternoons marathon of sport.

Just the job.

Thanks Sparkygran the alcohol has anaesthetised my poor aching body and a good night's sleep will complete my recovery and DH too who I am thinking of hiring out as a children's entertainer.

Open ravioli from Waitrose plus a mixed salad. Pannacotta and raspberries plus a large Bacardi and coke to celebrate surviving a whole week looking after two boisterous GSs - phew.

Rib eye steak, maman potatoes and a salad - usual Friday night fare and a tradition from when the children were young! To celebrate Friday night they were allowed 'Friday choice' which was usually nuggets and chips in front of the tv and we had something more sophisticated and we carry it in now we have no children at home!

Lunch was a Persiana recipe that I have been looking at for ages. Roast butternut squash with a spoonful of of pistachio and herb pesto, topped with crumbled feta. Good, but I think I overdid the feta and with the pecorino in the pesto it was a bit too cheesy. Will try again though. Tonight OH is cooking something with lamb, chard, spices and chickpeas.

Tonight it is a Waitrose cannellini - 279 cals - 5;2 diet

Lamb steaks sprinkled with balsamic, with shallots and bacon and a white wine sauce! All served with lyonnaise potatoes and broccoli tossed with lemon and parmesan.

Mid week treat -Rib-eye steaks from Aldi. DH marinades them with olive oil and a crumbled Oxo then does them in a griddle pan. Absolutely delish, better than many a steak I've had in restaurants recently. I did some tiny chunks of potato roasted in oven, the leftovers of which my DH will eat on his return from Darts.

Easy meal tonight after looking after the 2 year old DGC. I made 2 lots of chicken casserole yesterday, so just reheated that with green beans from the garden and a couple of roast potatoes. Yoghurt for pud.Will make a lasagne tomorrow.
