Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Nothing wrong or unhealthy about beans on toast! Or rice pud with blueberries...

Silverfish Wed 16-Jul-14 21:45:56

Tonight I had beans on toast and a fried egg on top followed by tinned rice pud with a few blueberries on top. I had left nothing out of freezer and fridge is empty and I had worked late so was too exhausted to go for a takeaway or to the supermarket so I had a really unhealthy meal but better luck tomorrow when I simply must go for food shopping.

We had pork chops and salad, scrummy, strawberries and icecream to follow.
Although strawberries are beginning to creep up in price ,I notice!

I must say that recipe was absolutely delicious!
I must try more from this new curry book. It was so easy and quick to do. Pity anyone near me tomorrow though. It had obscene amounts of garlic in it!

We had a barbecue thanks to the Wonderful Man:
Pork chops; peppers stuffed with olives, feta and couscous; aubergine; courgette; mixed salad leaves; coleslaw; potato salad and tomatoes. Followed by home-made summer pudding and yoghurt/cream.
The lovely French girl who's living with us for the summer is apparently going to go home and tell her friends and family that the rumours of appalling English food are all lies! grin

Lunch tongue, tomato (flesh only, fiddly but it was a beef tom) and mashed potato. Salad cream.
Two Murraymints.

kittylester Wed 16-Jul-14 18:34:45

I'm jiggered so gammon, egg and oven chips - that's twice in a month!!

annodomini Wed 16-Jul-14 18:31:05

Probably nothing. Went out to lunch and had halloumi salad with roasted veg. It was so oily that I am still feeling full up. Won't ever order that again.

merlotgran Wed 16-Jul-14 18:29:38

That'll be later, sparkygran. We eat fairly early so usually have a glass of wine when we can both sit down and put our feet up. wine

sparkygran Wed 16-Jul-14 18:22:47

Merlotgran sounds gorgeous would I be rude to suggest a cheeky little red went well with it????

Galen Wed 16-Jul-14 18:17:49

Prawn, black mustard seed and garlic from 'Made in India.

merlotgran Wed 16-Jul-14 17:37:33

Caribbean fish pie from Levi Roots' 'Caribbean Food Made Easy'. Just as easy to make as our traditional fish pie but with lime juice and creamed coconut in the sauce and Jamaican spice in the mashed sweet potato.

Charleygirl Wed 16-Jul-14 17:22:37

Tonight, spag bol which I also had last night. I am working my way through unidentified packages of tin foil in the freezer and making a meal out of it!

Mamie Wed 16-Jul-14 17:09:56

Barbecued swordfish and avocado and tomato salad. We were going to eat in the garden, but once the temperature hit thirty we decided to hide inside....

sparkygran Tue 15-Jul-14 20:52:23

vegasmags Tue 15-Jul-14 20:25:11

Had a friend for dinner tonight, and we had pasta with smoked salmon in a dill, sour cream and vodka sauce.

Egg and watercress sandwiches courtesy of M&S and a bottle of mineral water on the train while travelling back to Northumberland from DD and family in Scotland.

janeainsworth Mon 14-Jul-14 19:53:01

Iam64 It's so difficult when you don't know how many you are catering for, isn't it?
Ham baked with pineapple & mustard, new potatoes, tomato, courgettes and carrots.
Then home-made strawberry gateau, with a bit of cointreau whipped into the cream smile

sparkygran Mon 14-Jul-14 19:37:38

Leftover steak and kidney pie (still tasted good) new spuds so filling we couldn`t manage the rhubarb tart - must try harder

Iam64 Mon 14-Jul-14 18:27:35

I'm on day 4 of not knowing how many people are eating tonight. It's been 'fluid', family arrangements changing as quickly as i choose a menu. I've put the chicken (planned for Saturday, and Sunday ) in. It now seems I may be one of 4 people who live here to be eating here tonight. confused

Nonu Mon 14-Jul-14 18:21:41

We are having the "left overs from yesterdays sumptuous meal" as DD sent us home with a "Doggy bag".

^ SUCH A SWEET GIRL^!
