Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Tonight we had Caribbean Smoked Haddock Choka - delicious if anyone wants the receipe just post

Invited a friend for Sunday lunch and we had roast chicken, roast potatoes, cabbage, carrots, green beans and swede, followed by Eton mess. I can't believe that only 4 hours later I am now starving and contemplating cheese and tomato toasted sandwiches.

Mix of sarnies left over from DS's 40th birthday party yesterday - fab day still recovering.

It will be nice though to be back in our own bed tomorrow.

Slow roasted leg of lamb (NZ lamb half price at the supermarket) - it's been marinating all afternoon in lemon juice and rosemary; roast butternut and sweet potato mix, roast potatoes, peas. Yum yum.

We really shouldn't have afters ... but there is some Mrs Mackie ice cream in the fridge.

There will be some left over lamb and it is already earmarked for a couscous and roast veg dish later in the week - when I wish I could beg some of Galen's vegetables! They'd be perfect.

Sounds yummy Galen . I'd have some garlic bread with that!!

Galen Sun 29-Jun-14 14:41:11

Mamie most especially green.

Galen Sun 29-Jun-14 14:40:38

Right, I've put passata at the bottom of a dish, aubergine on top, then cheese sauce, then courgettes, then sliced tomatoes finished with a layer oh mozzarella. Covered it in foil all ready to pop in oven. Think it'll be ok.

Pittcity Sun 29-Jun-14 14:34:32

Roast beef, new potatoes from the garden, yorkshires, veg and gravy. Followed by apple pie and custard. It's been weeks since we've had a Sunday Roast. Sadly no wine as DH has to go to work tonight, so I might have a cheeky G&T once he's gone smile

Mamie Sun 29-Jun-14 13:51:15

Goodness, that sounds tricky! All veg or just some?

Galen Sun 29-Jun-14 13:47:57

I've gone off meat at the moment.
The only trouble is I'm not very keen on veg and hate salad.

Mamie Sun 29-Jun-14 13:42:52

That sounds good Galen. Sort of light meat-free moussaka!

Galen Sun 29-Jun-14 13:33:52

Mamie as there's only me and I don't eat a lot. Think I'll do it as a bake but without the pasta, there'll still be enough for 2-3 days.

newist Sun 29-Jun-14 13:31:28

Tonight Mr & Mrs Flowerofthewest are joining us to share... Hot smoked salmon pate with oatcakes and rocket salad, followed by Venison casserole and leeky mash. Pudding is, chocolate torte (Delia version) with Chantilly cream

Mamie Sun 29-Jun-14 13:11:10

Galen, I would make a pasta bake with that lot. I sometimes brown the aubergines and courgettes first in a bit of olive oil in the oven. Sounds yum.
We are having roast chicken with new potatoes and courgettes from the garden, followed by raspberries, also from the garden.

tanith Sun 29-Jun-14 13:06:58

Jacket potatoes, quiche and salad not very inspiring but I'm feeling lazy.

Galen Sun 29-Jun-14 13:01:14

I have aubergines, courgettes, mozzarella and passata.
Wondering about combining the Italian fashion.
Or has anybody got any other ideas?

papaoscar Sun 29-Jun-14 12:45:57

Steamed pork fillet and smoky bacon with just a little garlic + a nice oven-baked jacket potato. It was very good!

ninathenana Sat 28-Jun-14 22:52:01

Ana grin grin so have I now !

Ana Sat 28-Jun-14 22:43:43

And I keep having a vision of grannyactivist's pig running around with a chop missing...confused

rosequartz Sat 28-Jun-14 22:40:57

I just keep having a vision of you and your DD trying to get a giant cheese straw into the oven!

grannyactivist Sat 28-Jun-14 21:59:52

Tonight I had a pork chop (from our own pig), mange tout - picked an hour before from the allotment and a salad of beetroot and potato with mayonnaise and chives. Prepared by the Wonderful Man and delicious.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 28-Jun-14 21:57:02

Tonight for dinner DD and I shared one giant cheese straw between us. And that was it. And I've just had six cherries.

Mamie Sat 28-Jun-14 18:52:20

Tonight was lovely fresh red mullet fillets from the market, simply baked with olive oil and preserved lemon with a pearled spelt, feta, mint and avocado salad.
Gracious royal wave to Grannyknot. grin
