Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

DH and DS are having homemade quarter pounder beefburgers from the freezer. They will have 2 each in buns shock. No idea what I'm having. Saturday dinner is always a lazy do.

Ah Grannyknot you lucky duck I watched a programme last year on TV re "Bad Boys" baking and am thrilled to hear they are still in business. I thought at the time what a brilliant idea was it Gordon Ramsey who started it??

sparkygran Sat 28-Jun-14 18:08:01

It was very good

Mamie you are definitely food royalty on this thread smile

I was woken from my lovely afternoon nap by the telephone (can't complain it was my new DIL's mum phoning to discuss some pressing matter around the soon-to-come grandson). So I got up and made a lasagna from scratch, with lovely rough cut mince bought from the farmer's market this morning. Will serve it tonight with a fresh green salad with my olive oil, clementine and honey dressing (my current favourite).

Dessert will be the wonderful banana bread I bought, also from the Farmer's Market - from the "Bad Boys" stall, which sells baking by the inmates of HMP Brixton. With a name like that, how could I resist?

Daughter and SIL to be coming for final wedding discussions - she wants me to put the brakes on some of the "grand gestures" around spending grin - from the male side of the family, say no more.

We are having seared venison (recipe is beef but had some venison steaks in the bottom of the freezer) with pomegranate and balsamic dressing. I am cooking that and OH is making a dish of yellow pepper, shallots and new potato roasted with rosemary to go with it. I will be trying out Lidl's very dry, pink cava as well. smile

merlotgran Thu 26-Jun-14 19:01:46

Home-made tandoori chicken with naan bread and a small salad

sparkygran Thu 26-Jun-14 18:50:44

I want some of that Mamie

Mamie Thu 26-Jun-14 16:21:18

Well the salad is from last night when we had it with swordfish steaks and the chicken took about ten minutes to prepare so I haven't spent long cooking either!
I use full-fat yoghurt and don't mess with the low-fat stuff. (isn't it full of sugar?)
Officially told by the doctor today that I am out of BMI overweight and into normal range and my cholesterol has dropped right down without having low-fat anything. grin

NanKate Thu 26-Jun-14 16:17:24

Chicken fajitas (I think that is how you spell it) with a tomato relish and a sour cream sauce, all courtesy of M & S.

Last portion of homemade rice pud.

rosequartz Thu 26-Jun-14 16:04:39

I suppose I could have 0% fat Greek yogurt instead of icecream!

rosequartz Thu 26-Jun-14 16:01:56

That sounds absolutely delicious, Mamie!

M&S fish pie (can't be bothered to cook tonight).
Raspberries from the garden with icecream.

Mamie Thu 26-Jun-14 14:12:46

Chicken pieces baked in yoghurt, onion and saffron marinade. Red carmargue rice salad with avocado, toasted almonds, coriander and goji berries.

Gagagran Thu 26-Jun-14 13:59:06

We're having poached smoked haddock with a poached egg on top plus new potatoes and a few garden peas followed by raspberries and clotted cream (which needs using up).

Got the DGC tomorrow so it's pizzas and garlic bread and probably strawberries and icecream.

sparkygran Thu 26-Jun-14 13:28:47

This thread is as good as reading the menu in a good restaraunt, and no calories. Keep it up!
