Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Very lazy dinner here tonight, it's Ikea meatballs, mashed spuds, gravy and two veg.

I'd really really really love an Indian takeaway, but the really good Indian doesn't deliver and anyway the calories!shock

NanKate Tue 11-Nov-14 16:44:52

Enjoy your moussaka Galen. You've got us GNs if you feel like a chat.

Can't come all the way to Leicester and not have an Indian. Daughter & partner are going out tonight while they have us to babysit, so a take away is on the cards.

We are having braised sausage and mash tonight but I'm beginning to wonder what is in the sausages!

All this talk of roadkill has quite put me off my stuffed pork fillet!!!!

pompa Tue 11-Nov-14 08:09:56

Over the course of our 3 hour drive yesterday we could have collected enough fresh roadkill to keep us in meat for a couple of weeks.
Probably a couple of dozen pheasants and rabbits, one deer and various other nondescript creatures. Not sure about the fox and badger, not seen them on the roadkill top 10 list. On a different journey we came across a pile of leeks that had dropped off a trailer - enough for a game stew.

Pork chop, celeriac mash and cabbage - quite boring really. But I made an apple pie with custard and I have 2 helpings and now feeling totally stuffed and pig-gish

Toby Carvery turkey, beef, stuffing, roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots, caulifower, onion, horseradish sauce, bread sauce, cranberry sauce, gravy for £5.99. Decided I couldn't be arsed cooking tonight.

Grannyknot Sun 09-Nov-14 19:56:34

It wasn't really roadkill though was it? shock then it would have to be "Pompa does Bear Grylls" smile

pompa Sun 09-Nov-14 19:25:34

Cordon Bleu Roadkill for beginners.

How's that for a title?

Grannyknot Sun 09-Nov-14 18:41:12

I can see the TV series already - pompa does Valentine Warner grin

Jess25 Sun 09-Nov-14 18:37:55

I had a sandwish with sausage and butter :D

kittylester Sun 09-Nov-14 18:34:12

Belly pork slow roasted on a bed of veg mixed with lots of garlic to which you add a WHOLE bottle of wine!! If I can still stand up afterwards, I'll report back!!

pompa Sun 09-Nov-14 18:24:36

Just for a change I had a significant input into tonight's dinner. We had a pheasant casserole, I got the job of boning out the pheasants and removing shot.

Grannyknot Sun 09-Nov-14 17:37:13

Last night's dinner included an experiment - I had loads of celery (I planned to make celery soup at one time and never got round to it)- anyway needed to use it up so I googled recipes with celery not expecting to find anything other than soup or Waldorf, but thank you Mr Fearnley-Whittingstall for your delicate and delicious recipe of Celery Gratin. It was very well received by the family when served with roast chicken, roast potatoes and glazed sweet carrots.

Tonight's dinner is bangers and mash ... smile Gonna taste divine because I'm not cooking it grin

NanKate Wed 22-Oct-14 19:44:59

Strong not string. hmm

NanKate Wed 22-Oct-14 19:44:26

Toasted tea cake, banana, yoghurt and flaked almonds and a tiny mouthful of iced sponge cake plus a nice string cuppa.

We had bangers and mash out today at lunchtime yummy.

annodomini Tue 21-Oct-14 19:32:32

Churros! DiL and I had some really good ones two years ago at the Hyde Park Christmas funfair! Sadly, without the hot chocolate.

Riverwalk Tue 21-Oct-14 19:23:28

Well don't be complaining when you gain 4lbs.

Yer own fault!

Could be offset by wine, which is healthy smile

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 21-Oct-14 19:17:54

Yeah! I can live on those for four days! smile

Riverwalk Tue 21-Oct-14 19:04:33

jings churros are just elongated doughnuts!

Deep fried cakes, sprinkled with sugar, then dipped in hot chocolate shock

Very nice.
