I've run out of sr flour but have plenty of plain. Can anyone tell me how much baking powder to how much flour to make it sr?
A very basic question I know but I've only just taken up cooking!

I would use 21/2 teaspoons baking powder to 250 g/9 oz plain flour. Does that work out the same? I'm not up to doing the arithmetic today. Either way, you won't get quite the same rise as you would with self-raising flour but it'll do at a pinch.

Sorry to disagree absent but I have never bought self-raising flour for cake making; always plain flour and baking powder. I have had no problems with the rise.
