I know this is a bit out of season but the thread about beans reminded me.
Does anyone remember having grey peas or 'carlins' during lent, although I suppose they could be eaten anytime of year.
I had them as a dessert, boiled, drained and loaded with sugar they were delicious. I think they may have been a wartime dish.
If anyone can tell me where to buy them I would be grateful, have tried typing 'grey peas' into the internet and got no results.
