Rainbow's End, Glastonbury, Somerset - overall rating 10/10
(From Earthynanna)
(2011) For those of you who remember when yoghurt was exotic and that any mention of chickpeas, chili and couscous would prevoke nothing but bemusement, I thought I would share this wonderful cafe in Glastonbury.
I thought I was so daring, the first time I entered a wholefood cafe! Now luckily all this delicious, healthy food is available for us all to cook at home.
Sadly, for the vegetarian or vegan, it is not always easy to find anything other than a grudging vegetable lasagne or strogaboff.
At Rainbows End you will find a wonderful variety of freshly cooked vegetarian food, including lasagne and stroganoff, but of a standard a million times better than the factory-made, microwaved offerings in many pubs and cafes.
There are hearty soups, with excellent bread, meze with a variety of salads, curries, stews, pies, tarts and the most gorgeous garlic potatoes.
The puddings and cakes look lovely but the main courses are so huge I never have room to try them.
The staff are friendly and efficient, the surroundings pleasant, and the meals are excellent value for money, with most main choices costing around £6 - £7.
