...is on in less than 2 weeks. Thank goodness - telly has been dire of late.

Greyduster Wed 07-Oct-15 22:06:46

Knew she could do it! Well deserved.

Nelliemoser Wed 07-Oct-15 22:06:04

I was teary too.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 07-Oct-15 21:29:25

Brilliant final! I was blubbing tooblush and all three finalists came across as lovely people with such supportive families. A life changing moment for the winner and my favourite series to date.

Charleygirl Wed 07-Oct-15 21:28:02

I agree, well deserved.

annodomini Wed 07-Oct-15 21:11:28

The right result and some wonderful baking all round. Why is it that I feel as if I had been stuffing myself with cake for the past hour? I swear I haven't! smile

Indinana Wed 07-Oct-15 21:10:40

Fantastic result! The winner has come on so well throughout the series, and really deserved it. Yes, quite emotional too at the end smile

merlotgran Wed 07-Oct-15 21:09:38

Even Mary looked emotional.

Ana Wed 07-Oct-15 21:06:51

Oh, I'm so pleased at the result! Got quite teary-eyed at the end...

Nelliemoser Wed 07-Oct-15 21:01:54

A brilliant result what a star! No spoilers for those fans who have not watched.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 07-Oct-15 20:10:00

I didn't know that either Nelliemoser - thank you!

Who will win? Honestly haven't got a clue - too close to tell!

rosesarered Wed 07-Oct-15 19:07:51

Who will win tonight?

Nelliemoser Wed 07-Oct-15 19:06:30

I enjoyed Shakespeare. I am often amazed about how much of the information we picked up at school lingers somewhere in the memory.
I just wish I could remember passwords.

Ana Wed 07-Oct-15 18:41:20

Well, I didn't know that Nelliemoser! You have added to my sum of knowledge (never did like Shakespeare at school grin)

Nelliemoser Wed 07-Oct-15 18:39:35

Hamlet Act3 Scene 2.
"To split the ears of the groundlings, who for the most part, are capable of nothing but inexplicable dumb shows and noise.
Well I nearly got it right!
TG for a complete works of WS.

Nelliemoser Wed 07-Oct-15 18:31:07

Ana The groundlings in Shakespeares time were the uneducated poor who paid very little and stood to watch the plays. They were very much looked down upon. Somewhere, possibly in Hamlet, there is a line about doing something to amuse the Groundlings.

Can any of you lot clarify the reference. It was about 50 years ago I did it for A level.

Ana Wed 07-Oct-15 18:21:28

I must listen out for the 'stupid voice' tonight. I've never noticed it before, I thought that was her normal one! grin

Indinana Wed 07-Oct-15 18:19:25

Ok, I'll concede Sue Perkins is more than just a comedian and that she has presented many times before. And to be fair, I don't really dislike the 'larking about', as the show does need to have a lighter side and it must go a long way to help ease the tension felt by the contestants.

I just wish the bl@@dy woman would stop saying "123 Bake" in that stupid voice grin

Ana Wed 07-Oct-15 18:05:31

'groundlings'? confused

Nelliemoser Wed 07-Oct-15 18:03:09

I like the program but I cannot abide any catch phrases. Such as "lets bake!" Said in a stupid voice. They make me squirm with embarrassment to hear them they are so utterly cheesy.
I dare say the production team have been asked to put the catch phrase in to please the groundlings.

gettingonabit Wed 07-Oct-15 15:09:07

Smart, yes. Funny-no, imho.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 07-Oct-15 11:57:36

Sue has been presenting for years now and I'm not sure if she even does 'pure' comedy with or without Mel these days. If you read her Wikipedia page you can see how varied her career has been. She's one smart woman.

merlotgran Wed 07-Oct-15 10:23:27

Sue Perkins has presented many other programmes not just GBBO. Her comedic style is her trade mark. I regard her as a presenter first and a comedian second.

Without the larking about I think GBBO would be utterly boring and predictable.

Indinana Wed 07-Oct-15 09:51:51

Oh I like Claudia on the GBSB. At least she doesn't put on any silly voices and try to be funny. Some may not like her manner, but she is a presenter and that's what she does - she presents the show. Sue Perkins, OTOH, is not a presenter, she is a comedian and she spends the whole time trying to turn the programme into a comedy show.

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 06-Oct-15 23:47:53

I like Sue Perkins too (although her eye makeup/false eyelashes gets on my nerves because it makes her eyes look droopy - hope it's not due to her brain tumour), but I suspect she's on the show simply because she's part of the Mel and Sue comedy duo. They are part of the show for me, although I thought they were a waste of space at first.

Actually if anyone has got on my nerves this series, it's Paul. I think he's going out of his way to be more negative, to the point where Mary is obviously trying to compensate for him. It's always been a good cop bad cop partnership, but this series he seems to be pushing the Simon Cowell impression too far.

Ana Tue 06-Oct-15 21:01:40

I like Sue Perkins, but I agree with anno that Claudia is very annoying on GBSB. I swear that fringe changes length from one shot to the next as well...
