I saw these funny looking vegetables - a bit like a potato in a stripey jumper - in Tesco the other day. I didn't see anyone choosing to buy them. The question is, have any of you tried them and if you have, would you recommend them?

Never even heard of them. They do look odd though. The question is how do they compare in price to potatoes? I have never got on with substituting sweet potatoes for "proper" ones.

I've never seen these before. They look like baby yams which I have had, and are very nice. If I come across them here in Northumberland I'll give them a go. Our local Tesco is quite good at stocking unusual fruit and get.

Veg, not get! Honestly silly hudl.

I thought about them, but wasn't sure how they would fit in with the Weightwatchers' plan. When l looked them up on the WW site, they were unheard of, not surprisingly, but I imagine they would be similar to sweet potatoes calorie-wise.

They sound interesting - 'a sweet, nutty taste'. I will definitely try these if I see them in our Tesco.

They seem to be what we call here in Durban South Africa MADUMBIES. Boil in their skins, peel & eat with salt & pepper.
