Have just spent an age shelling peas, something I haven't done for an age but I quite enjoyed it. My dilemma now is how long to cook them for, as I can't remember (and the internet says three minute, which I am not so sure about as they are oldish, not tiny soft ones). Thanks x

They will take as long as they take if that makes sense!!! If they are a bit bulletty you could add a tad of sugar to make them more palatable

Boil or steam them for a few minutes and then squish one between your fingers smile and taste it ...

I usually buy fresh peas quite often in the summer because they are such a treat! You only need to cook them for a few minutes - do as Grannyknot said and try one after, say, 5 minutes. Some people like them well cooked - I like them just cooked, IYKWIM, in as little water as possible, to retain the flavour.

We grow our own peas and only boil them for one or two minutes. As Grannyknot says you could try one.

I have grown peas this year and from picking to eating in a short time I just melt some butter in a pan, sauté for a minute and cover with water, one minute simmering and they are ready and delicious.

I grew peas this year for the first time and the initial pickings were delicious but have since uprooted the lot and composted them because of finding horrible little grub thingies waving around at me as I podded my lovely peas hmm
Made me feel decidedly envy, just hope to goodness that we didn't eat any.....
Won't be growing those again.
