My DD is hosting the brunch. What can I contribute to 'lighten her load'

Perhaps bacon and maple syrup with gf waffles if I can get them

Oh! Just settled to sleep and thinking about Xmas and realised that I discovered I am gluten intolerant this year so will have to do so something else- bum!

We have bucks fizz, melon and berries, brioche and/or croissants with preserves and coffee. Have had the same for years.

Just a Baileys and possibly a small mince pie - need to keep room for big lunch about 1 - 2pm.

ps I forgot to say, they had all had brunch before we arrived at lunch-time! hmm

What time is Christmas lunch? or is it dinner?

I just had a croissant one year when we were going out and we didn't have the Christmas meal until 4.30 pm

Having had all that to eat for brunch how on earth can any of you have a Christmas meal after that lot?

Toast and honey or marmalade for me with a mug of coffee.

Another scrambled eggs with smoked salmon here and fruit compote with natural yoghurt and honey. Proper coffee and Bucks Fizz too.

You ask if she wants you to bring anything, and if she says no, you trust that your hostess knows what she is doing, and bring a bottle or two of her favourite tipple she can drink at her leisure.

I have my usual toast and marmalade and DH has his usual cereal. Couldn't include the whole family because it takes them most of the day to organise getting over to ours for lunch grin

We like toasted Panettone for Christmas Day late breakfast with a glass of fizz or just lots of coffee and Biscotti if its been a heavy Christmas Eve.

We often have brunch with all the family, then some members go off to have lunch with other relatives. It's bagels/blinis/thin brown bread toast or bread n butter, cream cheese , smoked salmon and bucks fizz. Pancakes are easy to make earlier (once you've walked the dogs and put the turkey in) and wrap them in foil, serve with either forest fruits/yoghurt or mushrooms in cream. I'm hungry just thinking about all this.
We have bucks fizz, tea and coffee but I'm off to look up Nigella's Mistletoe non alcoholic cocktail, sounds good.

I make whole wheat pancakes with mini chocolate chips in them for my son.

We have our turkey at about 2pm so breakfast is the same as usual. Cereal and toast about 9am.

Hmmm... We have toast and marmalade, or French toast and bacon. Saving ourselves for ddil's Christmas dinner.

Mr P and I always have Delia's Smoked Fish Creams (comes out somewhere between a mousse and a souffle) with good brown bread & butter.

Too much kerfuffle to do for any more than around 8 people though!

rosequartz Sat 07-Nov-15 19:26:11

Whatever it is, it has to include croissants!

Granny23 are you very very hungry? grin

Nigella has a non alcoholic cocktail drink called Mistletoe. It's lime and ginger and is very festive to serve with Christmas morning brunch.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 07-Nov-15 16:33:07

Granny23 have you developed a twitch? shock grin

Just how many vegetarians do you have Granny23. grin

It's tradition in these parts to have pork pie! Baffles me! grin I'm for the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon or kedgeree with smoked salmon.

Granny23. Have you seen the Vicar of Dibley where Geraldine has to endure at least three Christmas Dinners?

Maybe yours is the brunch version....grin
