Thanks all of you, my memory was not playing tricks on me after all, and I had remembered how to do it (micro swede) just wanted to make sure. Thanks again.

I prod mine with a skewer to see if it's done.

I cheated. Mine came in a plastic tray, and took three minutes!

Did you have it on a plate, Petallus? Or even in a pyrex dish. The sizzling is Ok - that is the singing.

I tried it a few days ago. Microwave was running with water when only half way through cooking plus alarming sizzling going on.

I tried this method for the first time last week, it worked a treat!

20 mins unless it is smaller than average. Testing it without cutting it open isn't easy, and shorter time might not be successful.

chelseababy Sun 29-Nov-15 10:58:18

Wasnt it the swede that would not die? Microwave whole eight mins, turn over and repeat. Test ànd repeat in shorter bursts if not soft. Be careful when scooping out....hot!

PRINT I seem to remember we had a conversation about "singing swedes" quite a while ago,if I remember you cut the top and put into microwave for (don't quote me) 10/12 mins and whilst it was going around it started singing so to speak there must be a thread somewhere in the food section.

whitewave Sun 29-Nov-15 10:48:53

Just bung it in whole - 20min s should do it

I am sure I have seen somewhere on gransnet, a way of cooking swede in the microwave - I have searched, and cannot find it, I am probably being quite stupid and looking in the wrong place, but please can anyone help? Thank you.
