Using a Christmas gift, we treated ourselves to a £10 Meal for Two at M&S yesterday. Very disappointingly the lasagne was bland and appeared to be missing some ingredients. I have never complained about a food product before, but went online. I included the product number and said that whilst we appreciated that the meal is good value, the main was so disappointing we didn't even finish eating it. Lo and behold, I got an email just a few hours later, with a sincere apology and the promise of a £10 e-gift refund ' and some extra' to come as recompense. They also said - and I want to believe them - that using the product number they will contact the food technologists to try to improve quality standards, Very impressed! And VERY pleased with the refund to come. What good service.

It is so worth feeding back to them instead of just having a grumble and vowing never to go there again. That is great service by M&S.
I remember many years ago, when BHS used to have a food hall (remember that?) they had a sign up saying something like "If you are a satisfied customer, please tell others. If you are dissatisfied, please tell us."

It is good to praise companies as well as complaining. I have heard that appreciative customers get vouchers and samples sent to them.

I'd like to praise M & S's online customer service too. I bought a woollen tunic just before Christmas which became really "bobbly" after the first wear, then washed really badly. I dreaded having to tussle with them to get an exchange, but within days I'd sent it back to the address they gave me, received a full refund and a full apology, and the promise that they would pass it on to their technologists to be checked out (which yes, I'd like to believe too!). Full marks from me.

Last Christmas we bought a leg of lamb. It was tough and had no flavour. I wrote to them and we too received a voucher to reimburse is for the £13.99 we had paid. We used it for steaks which were excellent. I couldn't fault their customer service.

A couple of years ago I bought a turkey crown which was labelled as containing stuffing. It didn't. I complained but didn't expect the full refund I received!
