Help needed

Can anyone help me work out how much mixture i need to make a cake in a tin approximately 22 x 32 cms (12x8")? It needs to be at least 2" deep. I am making two to sandwich together. I am making my grandson a birthday cake which will cut for at least fifteen but have never made one this big before. I forgot the old Army maxim "never volunteer"!

Are you making a Victoria sponge or a fruit cake?

If the former, I would use 4 eggs for each layer - and all the other ingredients scaled up to that.

Thanks, luckygirl. I was intending to use the be-ro milk chocolate cake recipe, but victoria sponge would be easier to scale up as you suggested probably. So four eggs, eight ounces of everything else?

I'd normally weigh the eggs then everything else to that weight..

That is the way I calculate it Tanith, as I buy cheap mixed-weight eggs.

I am not sure how a shopping website in India is going to have the answer to working out cake mixture, so I have reported this.
