Jinglebellsfrock I made mine earlier fold them in half then half again and slip onto grease proof paper on a plate I don't put it between if your doing a lot it works out expensive I've done 10 just waiting for DD to arrive.
Lemon and sugar, maple, Nutella but if there American pancakes then it's crispy bacon and maple syrup.

NotTooOld Tue 09-Feb-16 16:36:15

Lemon and sugar but as I'm currently cutting down on sugar it maight be just lemon. hmm

Envious Tue 09-Feb-16 16:29:42

Lemon and sugar is news to me! I prefer to use any fruit preserves I have. Maple syrup is just too sweet for me.

I'm having steamed scallop parcels in rice paper wraps as my pancakes

Eloethan Tue 09-Feb-16 14:39:33

Lemon and sugar is my first preference. Strawberry jam is also quite nice.

What is it about pancakes that make them so delicious?!

nonnasusie Tue 09-Feb-16 13:42:30

Lemon juice and honey.

hicaz46 Tue 09-Feb-16 13:16:10

Syrup and lemon juice, partner likes freshly squeezed orange and caster sugar.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 09-Feb-16 11:31:12

Yes. I guess I'm just being a skinflint. hmm There can be no other answer though. grin

Will go out and buy some, ready sheeted, now.

Layer them with greaseproof paper jingl. One year I made then in advance, froze them in piles of 10 (5 children, DS2 could eat up to 15 in one go!) layered with greaseproof, thawed and then reheated in the oven. Can't remember the details but I do remember it being much less stressful than having a row of gannets hopeful children sitting waiting.

I'm cheating this year and using Mrs Crimble mix. We have them with lemon and caster sugar though some years DH gets daring and has chocolate spread! grin

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 09-Feb-16 11:20:15

Lemon juice and sugar for us.

Has anyone found a way to make a pile and keep them warm in the oven without them sticking together. I hate having to stand making one for DH and then make one for me while he eats it and comes back for more. Ad infinitum.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 09-Feb-16 11:17:04

You expect the first one to stick!

lizzypopbottle Tue 09-Feb-16 11:11:28

Pancake day was always a trial when we were kids. Teflon coating was unheard of so at least the first pancake stuck to the pan and came off in bits. My mother found it very stressful indeed as we'd all be watching and waiting! smile I made pancakes on Saturday while I was visiting my daughter in Bristol. Lemon and sugar for us but the 14 month old wouldn't have them at any price! I'll make them again tonight now that I'm home. I'll share them with No.1 Son this time.

Never make pancakes, I would have to eat them. If I had a pancake it would be damson jam!
